The short answer: the Punggol Regional Sports Centre is expected to open around the end of 2026 at 11 Sentul Crescent, right behind One Punggol. It is one of the biggest sports projects Singapore has built in a housing town: a 5,000-seat football stadium, five swimming pools, 20 badminton courts, tennis and pickleball courts, an 18-lane archery field and a water sports centre on the Punggol Waterway.
For years, Punggol families have driven to Sengkang or Pasir Ris for a swim or a badminton court. That is about to change. Here is what we know so far, written for parents, players and anyone who has been waiting a long time for this one.

When Does the Punggol Regional Sports Centre Open?
The latest public timeline points to the end of 2026. Construction started in 2020 with a 2023 target, but the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth pushed the opening back after material and labour shortages during the Covid-19 years slowed the work. Official opening dates for each facility are usually announced by ActiveSG a few weeks ahead, and we will add them here as soon as they are confirmed.

What It Means for Punggol Families
Punggol is one of Singapore’s youngest towns. Roughly one in five residents is under 15. That means a lot of swimming lessons, school CCA training and weekend badminton games that, until now, have happened somewhere else.
- Swimming lessons close to home. Five pools should make weekend lesson slots easier to find.
- CCA practice. Students in badminton, basketball, netball, volleyball, football and archery will have serious facilities within the town.
- After-work sport. With 20 badminton courts plus pickleball and tennis, booking an evening court in Punggol should finally become realistic.
- Big-match nights. A 5,000-seat stadium means Punggol can host competitions, and the Waterway gets a new crowd on match days.
Where to Play Until It Opens
While residents wait, the government has opened school facilities to the public through the Dual-Use Scheme:
- Indoor sports halls at Edgefield Secondary, Greendale Primary, Oasis Primary and Punggol View Primary
- The school field at Punggol Secondary
- Sengkang Sport Centre, the nearest full ActiveSG complex

How to Get There
- By MRT: North-East Line to Punggol, then a sheltered walk of about 10 minutes past One Punggol.
- By LRT: Punggol LRT West Loop to Sam Kee, one stop from Punggol, then about 4 minutes on foot.
- By bicycle: the Punggol Waterway park connector runs right alongside.
