Badminton, Tennis & Pickleball Courts in Punggol 2026 | How to Book

Badminton, tennis and pickleball courts in Punggol are split between what residents can book now and what the new Punggol Regional Sports Centre will add when it opens. In September 2026, Punggol residents can already book selected school sports halls through ActiveSG’s Dual-Use Scheme, while the Regional Sports Centre is expected to add a very large permanent public-court supply around the end of 2026.

The future facility is significant: current published plans for the Punggol Regional Sports Centre include 20 badminton courts, five of which can convert to pickleball, six dedicated pickleball courts and three sheltered tennis courts. Until ActiveSG publishes the final opening and booking pages, however, those courts should be treated as coming, not bookable today.

This guide therefore gives the live 2026 booking route first, then the Regional Sports Centre expansion second.

Badminton now: Punggol school halls under ActiveSG

While Punggol waits for the Regional Sports Centre, SportSG and MOE’s Dual-Use Scheme open selected school sports halls to the public outside school use.

MCCY’s current Punggol update specifically identifies indoor sports halls at:

  • Edgefield Secondary School;
  • Greendale Primary School;
  • Oasis Primary School;
  • Punggol View Primary School.

ActiveSG’s live badminton directory also lists Punggol school halls such as Punggol Green Primary and Punggol Secondary where applicable. The exact available courts and slots should always be read from MyActiveSG+ because school access can change around examinations, school events and closures.

Example: Edgefield Primary School Hall

ActiveSG currently lists Edgefield Primary School Hall, 41 Edgefield Plains, with four badminton courts and public operating windows on Saturdays and Sundays.

This demonstrates how the school-hall system works: the facility exists primarily for the school, then public booking is layered onto selected non-school hours.

Example: Punggol View Primary School Hall

ActiveSG currently lists Punggol View Primary School Hall at 9 Punggol Place with weekend public operating hours. It is especially convenient for residents near Town Centre because the school is close to Punggol MRT and One Punggol.

Oasis Primary and Edgefield Secondary

ActiveSG also maintains public facility pages for Oasis Primary School Hall and Edgefield Secondary School Hall, again with weekend/public booking windows.

The correct booking method is not calling the school. Use ActiveSG’s current facility listing and booking system.

How MyActiveSG+ booking works

High-demand ActiveSG facilities use the current MyActiveSG+ booking / balloting system. MCCY confirmed in July 2026 that peak-demand facility allocation is designed to give users a fair chance, and repeated unsuccessful ballot attempts do not currently create priority for future ballots.

That means a family or player should:

  1. use MyActiveSG+;
  2. search the sport and Punggol facility;
  3. check ballot / booking release times;
  4. submit for the correct slot;
  5. keep a backup court or time;
  6. check closure announcements before travelling.

Why badminton is hard to book at peak times

Badminton is one of Singapore’s highest-demand bookable sports. The problem is not uniquely Punggol. ActiveSG peak slots across Singapore can attract many users, which is one reason SportSG is expanding multipurpose court supply and why Punggol Regional Sports Centre is being built with unusually large court capacity.

Punggol Regional Sports Centre: 20 badminton courts

The new Regional Sports Centre is expected to change the local badminton market dramatically. Current project information lists 20 badminton courts inside the sports complex.

That does not mean 20 courts will always be available for casual public booking. Some courts may be allocated to programmes, events, leagues or other uses. The final ActiveSG facility page will own the live inventory after opening.

Pickleball: Punggol is about to get much better equipped

Pickleball demand has risen sharply in Singapore, and SportSG announced in 2026 that it will add dozens of multipurpose badminton/pickleball courts islandwide over the coming years.

Punggol Regional Sports Centre is expected to include:

  • 6 dedicated pickleball courts;
  • 5 badminton courts convertible to pickleball.

For Punggol residents, that means the new centre should become one of the town’s main pickleball hubs once operational.

Can I play pickleball in a badminton hall now?

Only where ActiveSG has explicitly made the court available for pickleball under the booking system. Do not book a badminton court and assume you may freely convert it with your own lines or equipment if the facility does not allow that use.

Search MyActiveSG+ by sport, not only by venue.

Tennis in Punggol

Public tennis supply inside Punggol has historically been thinner than badminton. Residents often use nearby ActiveSG/private courts outside the town or condominium courts where they have access.

The Regional Sports Centre is expected to add three sheltered tennis courts. Shelter matters because ordinary outdoor tennis in Singapore is vulnerable to both thunderstorms and strong midday heat.

Condo courts

Several Punggol condominiums and former ECs have tennis or multipurpose courts. These are private facilities. Residents should follow MCST booking rules, guest rules and coaching restrictions.

Private-condo access should not be listed as if it were public ActiveSG supply.

Badminton with children

For Primary-school children, one booked court can support a simple family session without needing formal coaching.

  • use lighter racquets where appropriate;
  • begin with short-distance rallies;
  • teach ready position and safe racket spacing;
  • avoid turning the first session into a scoring lesson;
  • book an hour, not an exhausting half-day.

Pickleball for families and seniors

Pickleball can be appealing because the court is smaller and the game can be learned quickly at recreational level. But it still involves quick changes of direction and falls can occur.

Use appropriate footwear, warm up, and do not assume a lower-impact appearance means zero injury risk.

Tennis for beginners

Tennis has a steeper early learning curve because court coverage and stroke mechanics are demanding. Beginners may benefit from lower-compression balls, shorter courts or coaching before trying to rally full court.

What to bring

  • non-marking court shoes where required;
  • racket/paddle;
  • shuttlecocks or balls;
  • water;
  • towel;
  • booking confirmation;
  • spare grip / overgrip for longer sessions.

Court etiquette

  • enter only at booked time;
  • leave promptly when the next slot begins;
  • do not cross active courts unnecessarily;
  • clear shuttles/balls before leaving;
  • keep bags away from play space;
  • follow school/facility access rules;
  • do not use outdoor shoes where the hall requires indoor footwear.

When the Regional Sports Centre opens

This page should be refreshed with:

  • confirmed opening date;
  • court-by-court booking inventory;
  • pickleball conversion rules;
  • tennis booking hours;
  • peak/off-peak rates;
  • balloting windows;
  • programmes and league use;
  • closure/maintenance schedule.

Until then, do not publish “20 badminton courts available now” simply because the building exists.

Continue the sports route

Punggol already has bookable courts; it just does not yet have the full public sports-centre supply. Use school halls and MyActiveSG+ now, then refresh the map when the Regional Sports Centre actually opens.
