The night before a school project is due, it really helps to know whose shutters are still up.

This page is part of eduKate Punggol’s Essential Information for Punggol, our quick answers and where-to-go lists for everyday life in Punggol. It lists the bookshops, stationery shops and craft-basics stores in and around Punggol, then the nearest specialist shops for paints, brushes, canvases and fabric. Booklists and back-to-school runs have their own guides, linked below.

Hours checked October 2026 — confirm on the official page before you go. Almost every detail above comes from map and mall listings, so check live before a special trip. For POPULAR’s latest hours, use its store locator. Art Friend’s own location page is several years out of date, so phone the outlet rather than relying on it.

Which Stationery Shop in Punggol Fits the Job

Tomorrow’s school project

Try POPULAR first for paper, glue and markers. If it is already past 9pm, the two DAISO shops are listed until 10pm. Pick the one nearest home rather than crossing Punggol.

Real art materials

For oils, acrylics, watercolours, Chinese brushes or an easel, go to Art Friend. The Plaza Singapura outlet is at Dhoby Ghaut on the North East Line, so there is no change of train from Punggol.

Sewing, felt and party crafts

Spotlight sells fabric, sewing and party supplies, and it is in the same mall as Art Friend. One trip to Plaza Singapura covers both.

Notebooks and a nice pen

MUJI at Punggol Coast Mall and Schon Collection at Punggol Plaza are good for tidy everyday stationery. For younger children who like bright colours, Smiggle is at Compass One.

Printing or photocopying

Sengkang Books & Stationeries at Rivervale Plaza offers photocopying and printing. For more places, see our printing and photocopying guide.

Art lessons rather than art supplies

This page sticks to shops. Classes are covered in our separate creative things to do guide and our guide to art classes at SAFRA Punggol.

How to Do a Last-Minute Project Run

  1. Read the task together. Write down the exact size of board, the number of sheets and any colours the teacher asked for.
  2. Raid the cupboard first. Half-used glue sticks and spare card often cover more than you think.
  3. Check the time. POPULAR’s listed weekday closing is 9pm. DAISO is listed until 10pm.
  4. Go to the nearest shop. Waterway Point, Oasis Terraces, Punggol Coast Mall and Northshore Plaza II each have something.
  5. Buy one spare of the fiddly item. An extra sheet of card costs less than a second trip at 9.45pm.
  6. Keep a project box. Put the leftovers in one box at home, so the next project starts from the cupboard, not the shop.

What to Bring

  • A photo of the instruction sheet or booklist on your phone.
  • Measurements, if the project has a fixed size.
  • A large bag or folder to keep chart paper and card dry in the rain.
  • Your child, if possible. They know what the teacher actually meant.

Costs and Spending Sensibly

We have not quoted prices, as they vary by brand and promotion. As a rule of thumb, buy everyday basics from the budget shops. Save your money for the specialist items that really matter, such as good brushes or paper for a serious art student.

For children just starting out in painting or drawing, a small set is enough to find out whether the interest lasts. You can always upgrade at Art Friend later.

Neighbour’s Tips for Stationery Shopping in Punggol

  • Daiso at Waterway Point has reportedly closed. Its old B1 unit in the West Wing is now listed as POPULAR. For Daiso, try Punggol Coast Mall or Northshore Plaza II.
  • Times Bookstores has gone too. Its old Level 2 space is now Timezone, so do not go upstairs looking for books.
  • Make it one trip to town. Art Friend and Spotlight are both in Plaza Singapura. Write one list for both shops.
  • Seal parcels at home. Neighbourhood stationery shops that double as parcel points may ask for sealed parcels, and the queue moves faster when yours is ready.
  • Ring ahead for a special trip. Stock and hours vary from outlet to outlet, and a quick call saves a wasted journey.
  • Let older children run the errand. Our student errands guide shows how to build that independence safely.

If It’s Late at Night

We found no 24-hour stationery shop in Punggol. The latest listed closing times are DAISO’s 10pm at Punggol Coast Mall and Northshore Plaza II. After that, improvise with what is at home, and have a calm word with the teacher the next morning. A neat, honest effort usually goes down better than a frantic one.
