Most short-notice care in Punggol is arranged through people rather than places: an operator, a platform or an agency sends a carer to you, or you take your baby to a childminder’s home. Here is who to contact.

NannyPro’s office address and hours, and the two platforms, come from third-party listings and older articles, so check live. ECDA’s page does not list Punggol childminders by name, so search ChildminderGoWhere with your own postal code.
Which Option Fits Your Family
Your baby is 2 to 18 months old
The Childminding Pilot is built for you, if your baby is a Singapore Citizen and not also enrolled in a licensed infant care centre. Childminders take only one to three infants, so places are limited. Register early rather than on the day you need help.
You have a newborn
A confinement nanny needs a MOM Work Permit, applied for by you or an employment agent. Our after-the-birth guide covers confinement help in more depth.
Your child is sick and cannot go to preschool
Often the simplest back-up is a parent’s own leave. Our guide to annual, sick, childcare and parental leave explains what you may be entitled to.
You work Saturdays or nights
Ask your preschool first. Our guides to Saturday childcare and overnight childcare list what to confirm.
You need a school pick-up or an evening out
This is where babysitter platforms come in. Take the time to meet, check references and do a short trial before the evening you actually need.
How to Arrange a Babysitter Safely
- Write down what you need. Note your child’s age, the days and hours, your home or theirs, and any pick-ups.
- For an infant, start with the pilot. Search ChildminderGoWhere, then contact one of the three operators.
- For older children, shortlist two or three sitters. One is never enough when someone falls sick.
- Meet at home, with your child there. Watch how they talk to your child, not just to you.
- Check references. Speak to a previous family yourself. We did not find a government licence for private babysitters, so your own checks matter.
- Do a short trial while you are at home. An hour in the next room tells you a great deal.
- Agree the details in writing. A WhatsApp message covering hours, pay and cancellations avoids awkward conversations later.
What to Leave for the Sitter
- Your mobile number and a second trusted adult’s number.
- Your full address with block and unit number, written out for a 995 call.
- Your child’s allergies, medicines and doctor’s clinic.
- House rules on food, screens, visitors and going out.
- Where the first-aid box, spare keys and torch are.
- Our paediatric clinics guide, bookmarked on their phone.

Our childcare and family support explainer sets the pilot alongside infant care and preschool.
Confinement nanny
MOM’s Work Permit for a confinement nanny is for Malaysian nannies only, for up to 16 weeks from the baby’s birth, and it cannot be renewed. The employer must be at least 21 and the baby under 4 months old. The nanny must be 23 to under 70 and may work only in your home. The monthly levy is $60 if the baby is a Singapore Citizen and $300 otherwise. Medical insurance is required, with at least $60,000 of yearly cover for policies starting on or after 1 July 2023. MOM’s eligibility page has the full rules.
Private babysitters
Rates are set by each sitter or agency, and the published figures we found were years old. Ask for current rates, and agree on overtime before the first booking.
Neighbour’s Tips for Finding a Babysitter in Punggol
- Apply for a confinement nanny early. MOM notes that applying after the birth shortens the 16 weeks.
- Build a back-up list on a good day. Two names and numbers in your phone beat a frantic search at 7am.
- Introduce the sitter before you need them. A short visit while you are home makes the first real evening easier for a shy child.
- Remember the pilot is a pilot. It is set to run until 31 December 2027, so check ECDA’s page for news before you plan beyond that.
- Talk about photos. Say clearly whether the sitter may post pictures of your child online. Many parents prefer not.
- Teach older children your number. A child who can recite a parent’s mobile number is safer with any carer.
If It’s Urgent
- Medical emergency or fire: call 995.
- A child in immediate danger: call the Police on 999, or SMS 70999 if you cannot speak.
- Family violence, abuse or neglect: the National Anti-Violence and Sexual Harassment Helpline, 1800 777 0000, 24 hours.
- Urgent money worries: ComCare Hotline 1800-222-0000, 7am to midnight daily, or MSF’s hotline 1800-111-2222 (say “ComCare” when prompted).
- Children under 13 who need someone to talk to: Tinkle Friend, 1800 274 4788.
- A parent at breaking point: mindline 1771, 24 hours, or WhatsApp 6669 1771.
These numbers are listed on MSF’s FamilyAssist support services page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there emergency drop-in childcare in Punggol?
We found none in October 2026. Your realistic options are family, a babysitter you have already vetted, a parent’s leave, or, for infants, a childminder under ECDA’s pilot.
Who can use the Childminding Pilot?
Singapore Citizen infants aged 2 to 18 months who are not also enrolled in an ECDA-licensed infant care centre. You must engage the childminder through one of the three appointed operators.
How much does a childminder cost?
Under the pilot, ECDA lists $16.50 for a half day and $33 for a full day, after subsidy and before GST. Care outside the subsidised hours is charged at the operator’s regular rates.
Can I pay with Baby Bonus money?
For the Childminding Pilot, yes. ECDA says Child Development Account money can be used.
Does a babysitter need a licence in Singapore?
We found no government licence for private babysitters. Childminders under the pilot work through ECDA-appointed operators. With anyone else, do your own checks: meet them, call references and start with a short trial.
Can I still hire a confinement nanny after the baby arrives?
Yes, while the baby is under 4 months old. MOM says that applying after the birth shortens the 16-week period.

A Calm Back-Up Plan
You cannot stop a grandparent catching flu or a meeting being moved. You can have two trusted names in your phone, a house sheet on the fridge and, for a baby, a childminder registered in advance. That is most of the work done, and the bad morning becomes a manageable one.
