Ongoing supplies for a senior at home
If your parent receives home nursing, home medical, home palliative or day hospice care, ask that provider about SMF Home Healthcare Items. It covers catheters, urine bags, ostomy items, milk feeds, nasogastric tubes, thickeners, wound dressings, adult diapers, underpads and nasal oxygen cannulas.
Bigger equipment
Commodes, hospital beds, pressure relief cushions and mattresses come under SMF for eligible seniors, or under AIC’s Equipment Rental Scheme for patients who are seriously ill. Our wheelchair rental and mobility aids page explains both schemes and rental prices.
How to Get Subsidised Home Healthcare Items
- Check eligibility. Singapore Citizens and PRs aged 60 and above, not living in a nursing home or MSF home, currently receiving home nursing, home medical, home palliative or day hospice care, and applying for those items for the first time.
- Check the means test. Household income per person must be $4,800 or less a month, or the home’s Annual Value under $21,000 if there is no income.
- Ask the service provider to apply. AIC says this subsidy can only be applied for through your service provider, after a registered nurse or doctor assesses the need.
- Wait for approval. Processing takes up to three weeks. Do not stock up in the meantime, because purchases before approval are not reimbursed.
- Order the items. Use the Vertis Health Marketplace online, or phone an SMF-appointed supplier. New Vertis users register with Singpass from January 2026.
- Track your cap. The subsidy has a yearly cap per financial year, which runs from 1 April to 31 March.
What to Check Before You Buy
- The exact product name, size and quantity your nurse or doctor recommends.
- Whether a subsidy application is in progress, so you do not buy at full price by mistake.
- Expiry dates, especially on dressings and feeds bought in bulk.
- Storage space at home for cartons of diapers or feeds.
- For equipment: doorway and lift width, and where it will sit in the flat.
Costs, Subsidies and the CDA Change

- Baby Bonus CDA: new applications from retail pharmacies to be Baby Bonus Approved Institutions stopped on 1 October 2025, and existing ones could accept CDA only until 31 December 2025. From 1 January 2026, retail pharmacies are no longer Baby Bonus Approved Institutions, as MSF explains.
