We could not find any official karung guni Punggol schedule. Instead, the operator’s undated schedule lists monthly ezi Cash-for-Trash sessions at Punggol residents’ network centres (check the ezi app for current dates). Re:Nue has a donation booth at Northshore Plaza I, and Punggol Town Council collects up to three bulky items a month, free.
One family’s old rice cooker can be another family’s useful find, as long as it goes to the right place.

Where to Sell, Donate or Clear Old Items in Punggol
Cash-for-Trash is run by the public waste collector for the City-Punggol sector. NEA’s donation page (updated August 2026) names Cora for Cash-for-Trash, while its 2021 contract notice names SembWaste, so use the ezi app to check. Checked October 2026. The Cash-for-Trash times come from the operator’s October 2025 schedule, which has no year in its heading. Sessions may have changed since, so check the current schedule in the ezi app or with info@cora-environment.com before you carry bundles downstairs. Other details: Town Council bulky refuse, Re:Nue donate page, Cash Converters locations.
What to Do with Each Kind of Item
Newspapers, cardboard and cans
Take them to Cash-for-Trash. The schedule does not publish accepted items or payout rates, so check the ezi app first. Anything left over goes in the blue bin; our blue-bin guide lists what belongs there.
Clothes, bags, shoes and soft toys
NEA says these should not go in blue bins, because they get contaminated easily. Donate them, or use a textile bin; our Cloop bin guide shows how to pack them.
Things still in good condition
NEA’s donation, resale and repair list (updated August 2026) sorts channels by item type and includes Greensquare, Cloop, Refash, Thryft, Pass-It-On, MINDS, the Red Cross Shop and SSVP. NEA says the list is not exhaustive and may change.
Furniture and mattresses
Book the Town Council’s free bulky collection, or Re:Nue’s appointment service if the piece is good enough to donate. Re:Nue says it has no disposal service for items that are not in donatable condition.
Fridges, washing machines and TVs
NEA lists ALBA’s take-back service, paid doorstep collection, drop-off at ALBA’s depot (20 Tuas Loop, Singapore 637350), HDB collection drives, and Town Council bulky removal, after which ALBA collects. For smaller electronics, see our e-waste guide.
A karung guni at your door
We found no official register or price list. If you deal with one, agree the price before anything leaves the flat, and keep the deal at the doorstep.
How to Clear Out a Punggol Flat, Step by Step
- Sort into five piles: sell, donate, Cash-for-Trash, e-waste and bulky disposal.
- Check the next Cash-for-Trash date for your nearest RN centre in the ezi app. Bundle the paper and flatten the cardboard.
- Photograph what you will sell in good light, with any marks showing, and price it honestly.
- Pack donations clean and labelled. Re:Nue asks for neat packing, labels on fragile items, and no chemicals, flammables or sharp objects.
- Book the bulky collection. The Town Council needs a few days’ notice, but its page gives two different notice periods, so check live when you book and allow a week to be safe. Place the items outside your flat on the appointed day.
- Keep the corridor and chute clear. Under Punggol Town Council’s by-laws, objects may go on common property only in a designated place, and nothing may be put in a refuse chute that could clog it.
Costs and Limits
- Town Council bulky removal: free. Three movable items per flat per month, and a furniture set counts as more than one item. No dismantling, renovation waste or built-ins such as kitchen cabinets and wardrobes.
- Re:Nue staff collection: its appointment page says a transport fee applies, but the amount is not consistent on the page, so check live when you book. No fee is listed for self-delivery.
- Cash-for-Trash payouts: not published in the schedule. Ask at the station or check the app.
- Karung guni prices: we found no official guide. Agree the price first.
Selling Second-Hand Items Safely
The Police have warned about scammers posing as buyers of second-hand clothes, electronics and furniture on Facebook. They move the chat to WhatsApp, then ask the seller to install an app “to post item photos or receive a deposit”. The app is malware. At least 21 sellers lost a total of at least $210,000 in September 2023 alone.
- Install apps only from the official app store, never from a link a buyer sends.
- A real buyer pays for the item. They do not need you to download anything.
- If in doubt, call the 24-hour ScamShield Helpline on 1799. If money has already gone, read our first-hour scam guide.
Neighbour’s Tips for Karung Guni and Clearing Out in Punggol
- Check the app before you carry. Stations change, and the NEA dataset on data.gov.sg was last updated in June 2024.
- Tie newspapers with string. Neat bundles are quicker to weigh and easier to carry down in the lift.
- Small items only at the booth. Re:Nue’s mall booths cannot take furniture or bulky items, for safety and space reasons.
- Call Cash Converters first. Its page does not say which kinds of item each outlet buys, and Tampines is a trip.
- Clear out before a move, not on the day. The three-item bulky limit runs per month, so start early. Our moving day guide has a timeline.
- Swap before you shop. A preloved clothes swap keeps children’s clothes in use a little longer.
- Repair before you replace. A loose wire or a broken hinge may be a ten-minute fix at a community repair session.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a karung guni in Punggol?
We found no official list, round or price guide for karung guni in Punggol. The Cash-for-Trash stations are the official, scheduled alternative.
Where can I sell old newspapers in Punggol?
At a Cash-for-Trash station. The operator’s undated schedule lists one monthly Saturday-morning session at each of seven RN centres in Punggol, and a quarterly one at Punggol Vista CC. Check the current schedule in the ezi app for the next date.
How do I get rid of an old sofa?

Where can I sell second-hand items for cash near Punggol?
The nearest Cash Converters outlet with a buying counter is at 510 Tampines Central 1, #01-250. Call +65 6782 3488 first to check what it buys.
What should I do with an old fridge?
Ask the shop selling your new one about take-back, or use ALBA’s take-back or doorstep collection. Punggol Town Council’s bulky removal also takes household appliances, with ALBA collecting afterwards.

A Lighter Flat, a Lighter Load
Sort first, check the app, book the bulky collection early, and be wary of any buyer who sends a link. Most of what clutters a Punggol flat can be sold, donated or recycled within a few weeks. The space you get back is the best part.
