Which Way Fits Your Trip

Light bags and time to spare

Bus 34 is hard to beat: one bus, no changes, every terminal. Board at Punggol Coast Bus Interchange, where the route starts, for a better chance of a seat.

You are flying from Terminal 4

Changi Airport lists bus 34 among the services that go to T4 directly. The MRT station links only to T2 and T3, so the bus saves a transfer.

A family with big suitcases

Take a taxi or ride-hail car, or book a CDG MaxiCab, which seats 6 or 7 for a flat $70. Public buses do not accept any item larger than 120 × 70 × 40 cm.

A very early flight

Before the first airport train (5.20am from Tanah Merah, Monday to Saturday), go by taxi or ride-hail. Between midnight and 5.59am, taxis carry a 50% midnight surcharge. CDG takes advance bookings from 30 minutes to 24 hours ahead.

Travelling with a wheelchair

Strides Care prices airport transfers by time of day, and CDG runs a flat-rate MaxiCab Wheelchair Service. Our wheelchair-accessible transport guide compares them.

Coming home from the airport

A taxi starting at Changi Airport pays a location surcharge of $8 from 5pm to before midnight, or $6 at other times. Changi’s train times are for trains heading to the airport, so check the return times in a journey app before a late arrival.

How to Take Bus 34 to the Airport, Step by Step

  1. Check your terminal. It is on your booking. Bus 34 serves all four.
  2. Go to the right interchange. Since 29 June 2025, bus 34 has started at Punggol Coast Bus Interchange, not Punggol Bus Interchange. You can also board at Punggol Stn/Waterway Pt.
  3. Check the next bus. Use the SBS Transit app, as published first and last bus times were not available to us.
  4. Check your luggage. No item over 120 × 70 × 40 cm. When the bus is crowded, you and your bags may take only one seat, and you should follow the Bus Captain’s reasonable instructions.
  5. Tap in. Use a contactless bank card, mobile wallet, EZ-Link or NETS FlashPay card, or a Singapore Tourist Pass. Admin fees apply to foreign-issued bank cards, and cash needs the exact fare.
  6. Get off at your terminal. Keep your terminal number handy in case you need to ask the Bus Captain.
  7. Allow plenty of time. Our commuting guide has real travel times from Punggol.

What to Prepare Before You Leave

  • Passport, boarding pass and any visas, packed where you can reach them.
  • A fare card or contactless payment for the bus or train, with enough value.
  • Suitcases measured against the bus limit if you plan to ride bus 34.
  • Any vaccinations your destination needs. See our guide to travel vaccinations near Punggol.
  • For a dawn flight, your taxi or transfer booked the evening before.

Costs: Taxi Surcharges and Booking Fees

Bus and train fares are distance-based; our SimplyGo fares guide explains how they work. For taxis, these figures were published by LTA and CDG and checked in October 2026:

  • Flag-down: $4.40 to $5.20 for a standard taxi, then the meter.
  • Peak surcharge, 25%: weekdays 6am–9.29am and 5pm–11.59pm; weekends and public holidays 10am–1.59pm and 5pm–11.59pm.
  • Midnight surcharge, 50%: midnight to 5.59am.
  • Booking fees: CDG charges $3.30 at peak times and $2.30 at other times. An advance booking costs $8, with a $10 cancellation fee or $12 no-show fee for a standard taxi.
  • Changi surcharge: only for trips starting at Changi Airport.
  • CDG limousine transfers: LimoCab $65 and MaxiCab $70, plus $12 late at night. A Driver Fee of $0.50 or $0.80 applies from 24 March to 30 November 2026.

Neighbour’s Tips for the Airport Run

  • Do not wait at the old interchange. Bus 34 left Punggol Bus Interchange in 2025. Our guide to the two Punggol interchanges helps you avoid the wrong one.
  • For T4, think bus first. Bus 34 goes there directly; the train does not.
  • Measure the big suitcase. If it is over 120 × 70 × 40 cm, the bus is out, and you will save a stressful conversation at the door by booking a taxi.
  • Going there costs less than coming back. The Changi surcharge applies to trips from the airport, not to it.
  • Book ahead for a dawn flight. The $8 advance booking fee buys peace of mind when the first train is too late.
  • Visitors arriving late? Our guide to hotels and short stays near Punggol lists airport options for a night’s rest.

Early Flights, Late Arrivals and Emergencies

  • Before the first train: taxi or ride-hail. First airport trains leave Tanah Merah at 5.20am (Mon–Sat) or 5.47am (Sun and public holidays), and Expo at 5.23am or 5.50am.
  • After the last train: the last airport trains leave Tanah Merah at 11.50pm and Expo at 11.53pm. After that, use a taxi or ride-hail car.
  • Taxi by phone: Comfort/CityCab +65 6552 1111 or Prime Taxi +65 6778 0808.
  • Medical emergency on the way: call 995.
