Which Stay Fits Your Visitors
Grandparents staying a week or more
Village Residence Hougang offers 2- and 3-bedroom apartments for short weekly or long stays, with a discounted long-stay rate. Children aged 6 and below stay free, and pets are welcome with charges. Ask about the minimum stay, as it is not stated online.
A family holiday close to home

An early flight out
Crowne Plaza sits at Terminal 3, linked to all terminals and Jewel. YOTELAIR, in Jewel’s public area, can be booked for just a few hours.
A late arrival and a quick sleep
YOTELAIR is open 24 hours with flexible check-in, so a tired traveller can rest before the trip to Punggol in the morning.

How to Book a Stay for Visiting Family, Step by Step
- List what your visitors need. Number of bedrooms, a kitchen, parking, pets, and how much walking they can manage.
- Shortlist by the route to your flat. Village Residence Hougang is a short bus ride from Hougang and Buangkok MRT on the North East Line. D’Resort is reached from Pasir Ris MRT, and the Changi hotels suit visitors with flights to catch.
- Contact the property directly. Room rates were not published on the pages we read, so ask for the rate, the minimum stay and the occupancy limit.
- Check the extras. Parking, children’s policies, pet charges and any airport shuttle fee.
- Stay legal. Book a hotel or serviced residence, not a short stay in a flat or condo through a home-sharing site.
- Plan the arrival. Our Changi Airport guide covers bus 34, taxis and luggage.
- Note check-in times. Village Hotel Changi checks in at 2pm; D’Resort and Crowne Plaza from 3pm.
Costs and House Rules
- Room rates: not published on the official pages we checked. Ask each property.
- D’Resort parking: no complimentary parking. Guest concession parking is $11 a night for NTUC members and $13 for non-members. Public rates are $0.026 a minute capped at $17 a day Monday to Thursday, and $0.035 a minute capped at $21 a day from Friday to Sunday and in school and public holidays.
- Village Residence Hougang: on-site parking is charged; children 6 and below stay free; pet charges apply.
- Village Hotel Changi: the airport shuttle fee is not stated.
Why a Short Stay in a Punggol Flat Is Not an Option
It is tempting to book a nearby flat on a home-sharing site. URA defines short-term accommodation as stays of less than three consecutive months, and its page says, “It is illegal for owners and tenants to rent out their properties for short-term accommodation.” That includes rentals through home-sharing platforms. URA warns of fines, with heavier penalties in court for repeat offenders and those using several properties.
HDB is just as clear: “You must rent an HDB flat/ bedroom for at least 6 months.” So a few nights in a Punggol HDB flat is not allowed, however friendly the listing looks.
Neighbour’s Tips for Hosting Visitors
- Pick the stay by the route, not the map. A bus ride to a North East Line station can beat a shorter distance with awkward connections.
- Use the free shuttle at Downtown East. From Pasir Ris MRT, the loop shuttle runs daily from 11am to 10pm.
- Check bus 3 before relying on it. It is listed at both Punggol Bus Interchange and the Opp Downtown East stops, but confirm the route in a bus app first.
- Bring the pet only where it is welcome. Village Residence Hougang is pet-friendly with charges; D’Resort does not allow pets.
- Do not count on Habyt yet. It is due in the first half of 2027, so it will not help during the 2026 year-end school holidays (21 November to 31 December 2026).
- On hazy days, think about indoor air. Our haze staycation guide covers hotel air and family plans.
Late Arrivals and Emergencies
- Landing late with nowhere booked: YOTELAIR at Jewel is open 24 hours, and Crowne Plaza is at Terminal 3.
- A visitor becomes seriously unwell: call 995. Our nearest hospitals guide explains where to go.
- Unwell but not in danger at night: see our late-night GP clinics list.
