Car-Sharing and Car Rental in Punggol: Where to Pick Up a Car

Multi-storey HDB car park in Punggol, Singapore.

The car sharing Punggol residents can use is all app-based: GetGo, Tribecar and others keep cars in car parks island-wide, including HDB car parks, and the app shows the nearest one. For one-way trips, Flexar, operated by BlueSG Pte. Ltd., serves the North-East. We found no verified car-rental counter in Punggol.

No queue at a counter and no clipboard of forms. Just check that your licence ticks the right boxes before you sign up.

This page is part of eduKate Punggol’s Essential Information for Punggol, our quick answers and where-to-go lists for everyday life in Punggol. It compares the car-sharing services we could check, who is allowed to drive them, what they cost, and what to do when something goes wrong on the road.

Quick answer

  • Round-trip car-sharing: GetGo (details from its official pages) and Tribecar (details from independent guides). You return the car to where you collected it.
  • One-way car-sharing: Flexar lets you pick up near you and drop off at your destination. Its service areas are East, North-East and Central.
  • Where the cars are: only inside each operator’s app. No operator publishes a list of Punggol car parks.
  • Who can drive a GetGo: anyone 19 or older with at least a year of driving experience, or 25 or older with a valid licence. P-plate and junior licences are not accepted.
  • Typical costs: GetGo Economy cars from $3 an hour off-peak plus mileage; Flexar from $0.67 a minute with no distance fee.
  • No longer an option: BlueSG wound down on 8 August 2025, and Shariot was reported paused from December 2025.

Car Sharing in Punggol: Who Operates Here

LTA’s OneMotoring describes car-sharing providers as located “at multiple locations island-wide, including HDB car parks”. In Punggol that usually means a lot in a multi-storey car park, booked and opened through an app. The table lists operators rather than addresses, because the exact lots appear only in each app.

Which Car-Sharing Option Fits You

A quick errand, back to the same spot

A round-trip service such as GetGo suits a run to a furniture shop or a relative’s flat. You collect the car, use it, and bring it back to the same lot. You pay by the hour plus a mileage charge.

A one-way trip

Flexar is built for this. You pick up near you and drop off at your destination. Flexar says a typical 30-minute ride costs around S$18 to S$23, with fuel and charging included and no distance fee.

You have only just passed your test

GetGo does not accept P-plate licences. Independent guides say Tribecar does, with a 30% new-driver surcharge for drivers under 23 or with less than two years’ experience. Check live before you count on it.

A full day out

GetGo publishes full-day prices for Economy cars: $70 Monday to Thursday, $80 on Fridays and the eve of public holidays, $90 on Saturdays and Sundays, and up to $100 on public holidays.

You would like to drive electric

GetGo has electric cars with a lower mileage rate, but you must return them to their home lot. Its rules say, “Do not park your EV in a charging lot without charging it.” Flexar includes charging in its price. For public chargers, see our guide to HDB parking and EV charging in Punggol.

You hold a foreign licence

Flexar asks for a valid Singapore driving licence. GetGo has a help article on foreign licences, which we could not read in full, so check it before you sign up. Independent guides say Tribecar’s deposit is $400 for foreigners (check live).

How to Book a Shared Car, Step by Step

  1. Check you are eligible. Look at age, licence type and driving experience first. This is where most sign-ups stall.
  2. Download the app and register. GetGo says no deposit or membership fee is needed, and you can pay by debit card, credit card or PayLah!. If you are signing up close to your 19th or 25th birthday, GetGo activates the account only once the birthday has passed.
  3. Search near your block. The app map shows cars in nearby car parks. Note exactly where the app says your car is parked.
  4. Pick your time band. Hourly rates change with the time of day and day of the week, so shifting a trip by an hour can save money.
  5. Walk round the car before you drive off. Look for scratches and dents, take photos, and use the operator’s in-app reporting if anything is wrong.
  6. Drive and park. With GetGo, parking at the pick-up car park is free, but other car-park charges during your trip are yours.
  7. Return on time. Round-trip cars go back to their lot, and GetGo EVs to their home lot. A Flexar extension costs $1.50 per 10 minutes.

What Car Sharing Costs

Prices below are as published and checked in October 2026. GetGo itself says “For our exact rates, please refer to the GetGo app.”

  • GetGo hourly (Economy): off-peak $3, normal $5, peak $9, super-peak $10. Mileage is $0.44 per km for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, $0.54 per km for Luxury cars and $0.29 per km for electric cars.
  • GetGo time bands: 12am–5.59am normal; 6am–8.59am off-peak; 9am–5.59pm normal on weekdays and peak on weekends and public holidays; 6pm–8.59pm peak; 9pm–11.59pm normal Monday to Thursday and peak Friday to Sunday.
  • GetGo extras: insurance, maintenance, charging and fuel are included. A platform fee applies; its amount is not on the rates page.
  • Flexar: from $0.67 a minute, cheaper after the first hour. The first 5 minutes are free and a reservation is held free for 15 minutes. No distance fee and no subscription. A collision damage waiver is included, and a fuel or electricity surcharge applies only when market prices pass a threshold.
  • Tribecar (independent guides, check live): Economy sedans $2.18 super off-peak, $4.91 off-peak and $8.18 peak per hour, plus $0.43 per km. Deposit $100 for citizens and PRs.
  • Drive lah (independent guides, check live): from about $10 an hour, or roughly $48 to $89 a day, set by each owner.

Neighbour’s Tips for Car Sharing in Punggol

  • Read the licence rules before you download. A new driver who signs up for GetGo will be turned away at the P-plate question.
  • Go early. GetGo’s off-peak band runs from 6am to 8.59am. On a Saturday, an Economy car costs $3 an hour at 7am against $9 an hour at 11am.
  • Budget for parking at the other end. Only the pick-up car park is free with GetGo. Our driving and parking guide lists mall rates.
  • Treat EV lots with respect. Leaving a GetGo EV in a charging lot without charging breaks its rules, and the next driver will not thank you.
  • Do not look for BlueSG. BlueSG wound down in August 2025. Flexar, whose official site says it is operated by BlueSG Pte. Ltd., has its own apps.
  • Do not plan around Shariot. It was reported paused from December 2025 during a restructuring, so check live before relying on it.
  • Allow time to find the car. A multi-storey car park can hide a small hatchback well. Check the car park details in the app before you leave home.

If Something Goes Wrong on the Road

  • Anyone hurt: call 995 for an ambulance. For the police, call 999.
  • Breakdown or accident in a GetGo: follow the Vehicle Accidents and Breakdown & Reporting sections of the GetGo help centre and its in-app live chat. GetGo does not publish a phone number.
  • Flexar problems: Flexar lists email support at support@flexar.com.sg and a help centre on its website.
  • Running late: where the operator allows it, extend in the app before your booking ends, rather than after.
