Bike-Sharing and Bicycle Parking in Punggol

Bicycle parking facilities at Waterway Point

For bike sharing Punggol riders use dockless apps such as Anywheel and HelloRide: find a bike in the app, ride, then end your trip only inside a designated parking zone. For your own bike, Punggol Coast MRT has more than 300 bicycle parking lots, and HDB void decks across the town have public racks.

Punggol is flat, green and threaded with park connectors, so riding is the easy part. Knowing where to leave the bike is what keeps you out of trouble.

This page is part of eduKate Punggol’s Essential Information for Punggol, our quick answers and where-to-go lists for everyday life in Punggol. It compares the shared-bike apps, lists the main places to park your own bicycle, and sets out the path rules that apply to every rider.

Quick answer

  • Shared bikes: Anywheel and HelloRide, both dockless and app-based. You find, start and end every trip in the operator’s app.
  • Ending a trip: park only in a designated parking zone shown in the app, then scan the QR code near the parking area. LTA warns you may be banned from shared bikes if you do not.
  • Fares: check the app. A government article from April 2024 quoted $1 per 30 minutes for a regular bike on both apps.
  • Your own bike: Punggol Coast MRT has more than 300 lots, Punggol Digital District has an end-of-trip facility with racks and showers, and HDB estates have public racks.
  • Path rules: a helmet is compulsory on roads. The limit is 25 km/h on cycling and shared paths and 10 km/h on footpaths, and bicycles are not allowed on Pedestrian-Only Paths.

Bike Sharing and Bicycle Parking in Punggol: Where to Go

Shared bikes have no fixed stations, so the first two rows are apps rather than addresses. The rest are places to lock your own bicycle, plus one shop that hires bikes by the hour if you would rather not use an app.

Which Option Fits Your Ride

A short hop to the MRT or the shops

A shared bike is ideal. Before you set off, open the app and check there is a parking zone near where you are going. A zone at the start is no help if there is none at the end.

A daily commute to Punggol Digital District or SIT

Your own bike makes sense here. Punggol Coast MRT is the big official parking node, and the district’s end-of-trip facility has racks and showers for arriving fresh at work.

A family ride with young children

Both apps offered a family bike in 2024, at $4 per 30 minutes (check live). If you would rather choose from a fleet in person, Bike Stop at SAFRA Punggol hires bikes from Friday to Sunday. Our family cycling guide covers helmets and child-friendly routes.

You ride most days

Look at the passes in each app. In 2024, a 30-day pass cost $9.90 on both Anywheel and HelloRide. Prices may have changed, so compare in the app before you buy.

You want to take a bike on the train

Only foldable bikes are allowed, and the folded size matters. Our guide to foldable bicycles on public transport explains the limits.

How to Ride a Shared Bike, Step by Step

  1. Download the app and register. Add a payment method at home, not at the rack with a queue behind you.
  2. Check your destination first. Find the nearest parking zone to where you are going.
  3. Find a bike on the map and start the trip in the app.
  4. Check the bike before you ride. Squeeze the brakes, press the tyres and set the seat height. LTA requires at least one working handbrake.
  5. Ride on the right path at the right speed. Cycling and shared paths 25 km/h; footpaths 10 km/h. Wear a helmet if any part of the ride is on a road.
  6. Park inside a designated zone. Look for the QR code near the parking area and scan it to end your trip.
  7. Make sure the trip has ended. Check the app before you walk away, so the meter is not still running.

Rules That Apply to Shared Bikes Too

  • Size and brakes: on paths, a bicycle may weigh up to 20 kg, be up to 70 cm wide, and must have at least one working handbrake.
  • Helmets: compulsory when cycling on roads.
  • Speed limits: 25 km/h on cycling paths and shared paths, 10 km/h on footpaths (LTA, March 2026).
  • Pedestrian-Only Paths: since 1 July 2025, bicycles may not be ridden on footpaths beside cycling paths that have been converted to Pedestrian-Only Paths.
  • Licensed operators: dockless bike-sharing operators must hold an LTA licence. A full licence runs for up to two years.

What Shared Bikes Cost

The only published fares we found are from a Public Service Division article giving fares as at 1 April 2024, not from the operators. Treat them as a guide and check the app for today’s prices.

  • Anywheel (2024): $1.00 per 30 minutes for a regular bike, $4.00 per 30 minutes for a family bike. Passes $6.90 for 7 days, $9.90 for 30 days and $26.90 for 90 days.
  • HelloRide (2024): $1 for the first 30 minutes, then $0.50 per 10 minutes. Family bike $4.00 per 30 minutes. Passes $5.90, $9.90 and $24.90.
  • Bike Stop @ SAFRA Punggol: SAFRA publishes member promotion rates, such as 3 hours for $20 on some bike series. See our Bike Stop guide for the full list.

Neighbour’s Tips for Bike Sharing in Punggol

  • Check the zone at the far end. A ride out to Northshore or the coast is lovely, until you find there is nowhere to end the trip.
  • Remember Punggol Point Park is closed. It shut on 11 August 2026 for works due to run until 31 December 2027, so plan coastal rides around it.
  • Park inside the yellow lines. LTA’s newer racks have yellow lot markings to keep parking neat, and neighbours notice who ignores them.
  • Lock the frame, not just the wheel. For your own bike, our bicycle theft prevention guide explains how to lock it and keep records.
  • Stay off Pedestrian-Only Paths. Where a footpath runs beside a cycling path and has been made pedestrian-only, use the cycling path.
  • Ride early in monsoon season. From late November to March, afternoon thundery showers are common. Morning rides keep you drier.
  • Carry a helmet if you will touch a road. Even a short road link makes it compulsory.

If Something Goes Wrong

  • The trip will not end: contact the operator through its in-app help while you are still standing at the bike. We did not find official hotline numbers.
  • A fall or collision with injuries: call 995.
  • The bike is faulty: do not ride it. End the trip in a zone and tell the operator through the app’s help.
  • Your own bike is stolen: our theft prevention guide explains what records help.
