Living near Meridian LRT (PE2) means living in one of Punggol’s most school-dense residential pockets. Meridian sits on the East Loop between Cove and Coral Edge, close to Edgefield Plains, Edgedale Plains, Punggol Field and several long-established Primary and Secondary schools.
The station itself is not a large commercial destination. Its value comes from residential convenience, school geography and the ability to reach Punggol Town Centre quickly while remaining inside a quieter HDB/condo neighbourhood. For a family with young children, Meridian can matter more because of the schools around it than because of the station itself.

Mee Toh is one of the closest well-known schools to the Meridian/Edgedale area. Families considering a move for school proximity should still use the exact block address because the 1km line is not a station-centred circle.

Edgefield Primary and Greendale Primary
Edgefield and Greendale are part of the mature school network that grew with early Punggol housing. Meridian sits between several of these school zones, which is why the station can be attractive to families whose priority is staying inside an established school ecosystem.

Meridian is also well placed relative to several Secondary schools. Edgefield Secondary’s official address is 36 Punggol Field, and current mapping places Greendale Secondary and Punggol Secondary within the wider Meridian/Edgefield/Punggol Field belt.

Housing around Meridian
The Meridian area is predominantly HDB but also has a substantial private-housing / former-EC layer nearby. Current development directories identify projects such as:

- Parc Centros farther toward Punggol Central;
- other private developments in the broader Edgefield/Edgedale area.

Town Centre commute
Meridian is only two East Loop stops from Punggol in the station sequence. That keeps the feeder journey short relative to deeper East Loop stations.
A typical work commute is:
home → Meridian LRT → Punggol MRT → North-East Line → workplace.
For a household commuting daily to the CBD, Meridian adds a feeder segment but remains relatively close to the NEL trunk.
Bus access is better than the station alone suggests
Meridian sits close to Punggol Field / Edgefield Plains roads with multiple bus stops. Current local mapping shows several bus services at the station exits and larger service counts along Punggol Road corridors nearby.
This means some trips are better by bus than LRT—particularly when the destination lies along the road corridor rather than at Punggol MRT.
Food and groceries
Meridian does not have a major neighbourhood centre directly integrated with the station. Residents typically use:
- block-level coffee shops and neighbourhood retail;
- Punggol Plaza / Coral Edge for larger east-side shopping;
- Oasis Terraces for polyclinic + groceries + food;
- Punggol Town Centre for the widest choice.
This makes Meridian less “self-contained” than Oasis, but more school-oriented.
Punggol Plaza is reasonably close—but Coral Edge owns it
Current HDB information places Punggol Plaza at 168 Punggol Field near Coral Edge LRT. Some Meridian blocks are still within a reasonable walk or bus ride, but Coral Edge is the cleaner station owner for the mall.
Families should therefore decide whether they want:
- Meridian’s school geography; or
- Coral Edge’s more direct mall / community-club geography.
Healthcare
The main public primary-care anchor remains Punggol Polyclinic at Oasis Terraces. Meridian residents can reach Oasis by LRT or local bus/walk depending block.
Preschools and student care
The dense family housing and school network also supports many preschools and student-care options in the Meridian/Edgefield/Edgedale area. The right provider depends on the child’s school and parent work route, not merely the nearest listing.

Meridian is particularly compelling for young families because the child’s weekday geography can remain compact:

Teenagers
Teenagers can use the LRT to reach Town Centre, Regional Library, Waterway Point and wider buses independently. Secondary-school proximity can also reduce parental driving after CCA.
Seniors
For seniors, the station works best when the block is close enough to avoid a long unsheltered walk. The station is accessible, but the complete route still depends on the HDB precinct.
Oasis Polyclinic is reasonably reachable, but Town Centre services still require a short LRT ride.

Meridian is a school-first station. It does not have the biggest mall or the shortest possible NEL transfer, but it puts a dense cluster of schools, HDB homes and private developments inside one East Loop neighbourhood.
