Chinese New Year in Punggol is a family season rather than one single town event. In 2027, the gazetted Chinese New Year public holidays fall on Saturday 6 February and Sunday 7 February, with Monday 8 February 2027 observed as a public holiday because the second day falls on Sunday.
The Punggol-specific event layer should be treated separately. As of 26 September 2026, a final 2027 Punggol town light-up, bazaar or One Punggol CNY programme has not been published clearly enough for this guide to promise one. When local organisers confirm programmes, they will be added through Punggol Events.

Reunion dinner in Punggol
The reunion dinner on Chinese New Year’s Eve is one of the meals most likely to require advance booking. Punggol families now have several different dining clusters:
- Waterway Point: broadest restaurant choice and easiest MRT access;
- The Punggol Settlement: Chinese seafood / family-style dining and seafront atmosphere;
- Punggol Coast / PDD: newer restaurant and hawker layer;
- Oasis / Northshore: neighbourhood convenience for families avoiding Town Centre crowds.
Do not assume every restaurant opens on reunion-dinner night or CNY Day 1. Many Chinese-run small businesses close or change hours during the festival. Book only after the restaurant publishes its actual 2027 CNY menu and operating schedule.

Festive groceries
For reunion-dinner ingredients, fruit, drinks and household supplies, Punggol’s grocery network is now strong enough that residents rarely need to cross the whole town.

Punggol Tu Di Gong Temple and temple visits
Punggol has its own Chinese religious landscape, including Punggol Tu Di Gong Temple. Chinese New Year can increase visitor numbers at temples, especially around the first days of the festival.
Visitors should treat a temple as a place of worship rather than a festive attraction. Dress and behave respectfully, follow the temple’s current crowd-control arrangements and do not obstruct worshippers for photographs.

Where is the Punggol Chinese New Year light-up?
This guide does not assume a dedicated annual Punggol-wide street light-up. Singapore’s major CNY street-lighting programme is usually associated with Chinatown, while Punggol malls, community clubs and neighbourhood groups can run their own decorations and activities.

Where is the Punggol CNY bazaar?
The same rule applies. A temporary bazaar is not permanent town infrastructure. Unless an organiser publishes a specific 2027 Punggol bazaar, this page will not manufacture one.
If the family wants the large national festive-market experience, Chinatown remains the main Singapore destination; Punggol can be the home base rather than pretending it has an equivalent market every year.

Punggol’s MRT/LRT network is useful during CNY because parking pressure can increase around malls, temples and residential visitor lots. For family visiting:

What is open on CNY Day 1?
Do not assume normal opening hours. Large malls and some chain restaurants/supermarkets often operate, but selected stores and hawker stalls may close or use reduced hours.
Before leaving home on 6–8 February 2027:
- check the exact supermarket branch;
- check the exact restaurant;
- check clinic/pharmacy availability;
- check public-transport service information;
- have one fallback meal option.
CNY and tuition / schoolwork
A festival weekend should not become a guilt-filled revision crisis. If the child is in P6 or Secondary examination years, plan light retrieval before or after the main visiting period and protect the family celebration itself.
