All the banks in Punggol that we could find are in one building: Waterway Point, beside Punggol MRT and LRT. POSB, OCBC, UOB, Bank of China and ICBC have branches there, and Maybank is listed too (check live). For cash outside banking hours, use an ATM. Citibank has no branch or ATM in Punggol.
That makes banking one of the easier errands in town. One trip, one mall, and usually one queue number sent to your phone.
This page is part of eduKate Punggol’s Essential Information for Punggol, our quick answers and where-to-go lists for everyday life in Punggol. It covers each bank branch and its hours, where the ATMs are, how to join a queue before you leave home, and what to do about coins, closures and lost cards.

Hours checked October 2026 — confirm on the official page before you go: OCBC notices, Bank of China branches and ICBC Punggol notice. Older listings still show OCBC Waterway Point open to 7pm, but OCBC’s notice says the hours changed on 1 October 2025. The nearest other OCBC branches are at Compass One (#02-04) and Hougang Mall (#01-03); check their hours on OCBC’s site.
Which Bank Option Fits Your Errand
You only need cash
Skip the counter. OCBC says its customers can use more than 1,000 OCBC and UOB ATMs islandwide, and its app lets you withdraw cash at OCBC ATMs by scanning a QR code, with no card. Bank of China debit cardholders can withdraw for free at any atm5-network ATM. DBS/POSB ATMs give S$10 and S$50 notes everywhere, with S$2, S$5 and S$100 at selected machines.
You need a person at a counter
Get your queue number first, then walk over. POSB, UOB and OCBC all let you join the queue remotely, which turns a long wait into a coffee nearby. On weekdays, ICBC is listed until 7pm in its 2022 notice (check live), and Bank of China stays open until 7pm for loans, investments and insurance.
It is Saturday
Go early. OCBC Waterway Point closes at 1.30pm on Saturdays. Bank of China is open until 4pm, and ICBC until 4.30pm according to its 2022 notice (check live). On Sundays, OCBC and Bank of China are closed.
You have a jar of coins
Use a machine. DBS/POSB Coin Deposit Machines are free and take 1-cent to S$1 coins from the Floral and Third Series. The counter route is slower and costs more (see costs below). OCBC says coin deposits at OCBC ATMs carry no service charge. Find a coin-taking machine on your bank’s locator before you carry a heavy jar across town.
You need to change your address or replace a debit card
DBS/POSB says its Video Teller Machines handle non-cash services such as address changes and debit card issuance 24/7. Check the DBS locator for one near you.
How to Make a Bank Visit in Punggol Quick
- Check whether the app can do it. At OCBC, cheque book requests, cheque status enquiries and stop-payment requests have been app-only since 1 June 2025. Since 1 September 2026, OCBC branch counters no longer accept credit card bill payments; pay by app, Internet Banking, ATM or GIRO.
- Check today’s hours. Look at the bank’s official notices page for temporary closures and early closing, especially around festivals and public holidays.
- Join the queue remotely. For POSB, text “Q” to 83184384, reply with the service number, and wait for the SMS telling you your turn is near. For UOB, use Branch Q in the TMRW app (More > Branch Q), “Get Q number” on the Branch Locator, or SMS “Q Waterway Point” to 77588. For OCBC, use Easy Q in the OCBC app.
- Pack what the task needs. Bring your NRIC or passport, your bank card, and any letter, form or cheque the bank asked for.
- Time your walk. If you live near the MRT, you can wait at home until the “your turn is near” SMS arrives.
- Check before you leave the counter. Read the receipt or confirmation, and ask for a reference number if the request will take days.
One warning from DBS: queue numbers can stop being issued early on busy days. If you need something done today, join the queue in the morning rather than an hour before closing.
What You Can Do at the ATM
DBS lists these self-service options at DBS/POSB machines:
- Cash withdrawal, up to a S$9,000 daily cap.
- Cash deposit. Card-less deposits are capped at S$20,000 per transaction and S$50,000 a day; with a card, the cap is S$200,000 a day.
- Notes exchange, bill payments and fund transfers.
- Instant passbook updates.
DBS describes self-service banking as available “24 hours a day”, but it also says ATM access varies by location. Machines inside malls follow the mall’s opening hours, so a late-night withdrawal is easier at a machine you know is reachable after closing.
Costs and Fees Worth Knowing
- Coins at a DBS/POSB counter: S$1.80 per 100 coins or part thereof, as published in October 2026. Counter deposits are accepted only on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8.30am to 11.30am, and the coins must be sorted by denomination. The fee is waived at Coin Deposit Machines.
- Child Development Account holders: DBS says the coin fee is waived for POSB CDA holders, but the wording is unclear for counter deposits, so check live.
- Sharing ATMs: OCBC customers can use UOB ATMs as well as OCBC’s own, and Bank of China debit cards withdraw free on the atm5 network.
Neighbour’s Tips for Banking in Punggol
- Queue from the bus. Send the POSB or UOB SMS as you leave home. By the time you reach Waterway Point, you may already be near the front.
- Remember Level 1. OCBC (#01-13), ICBC (#01-15A) and Bank of China (#01-16) are all on Level 1, and Maybank is listed at #01-12 (check live), so one Level 1 loop covers several banks.
- Mind OCBC’s Saturday half-day. At 1.30pm the shutters come down. OCBC also closes early on festive eves; on Chinese New Year’s Eve 2026 it closed at 1pm.
- Use Punggol Plaza for a quick withdrawal. If you live near Coral Edge, its ATMs save the trip to the MRT (check live).
- Do not walk a coin jar to the counter. Sort it at home or use a Coin Deposit Machine. The counter charges a fee and opens for coins only two mornings a week.
- Help a senior set up the queue SMS. Save 83184384 in their phone as “POSB Queue”. It saves a long standing wait.
If Your Card Is Lost or Something Looks Wrong
- Lost or stolen card: lock or block it in your bank’s app, then call the bank on the number printed on your card or shown in the official app. Never use a number sent to you in an SMS or chat message.
