G3 Chinese tuition can help your child discuss an oral video by turning one useful observation into a personal view, a reason and a relevant example. The video is a starting point for conversation; describing every action on screen is not the same as developing an answer.
For Punggol parents, draw four small boxes after a practice clip: 看到什么 (what I saw), 这说明什么 (what it shows), 我的看法 (my view), and 一个例子 (one example). If the child fills only the first box, the next lesson should build the bridge from observation to discussion.
The 2027 SEC G3 Chinese Language syllabus is K320. Its oral component includes reading aloud and a conversation based on a video and the examiner’s questions. The conversation rubric values personal views, organised and developed content, appropriate language and fluency.

Match the learning plan to K320
Use the official 2027 K320 G3 Chinese Language syllabus with the school’s current programme. The oral paper provides preparation time for reading and viewing, then requires reading aloud and conversation with the examiner about the video and related questions.
Check that the student is taking G3 Chinese K320 rather than Higher Chinese, a special programme or another subject level. PG1, PG2 and PG3 are Posting Groups, not substitutes for the individual subject code. Confirm the provider’s actual provision before booking support.
Separate description from discussion
A descriptive answer may be accurate: “录像里有几位居民把旧书放在书架上。一个小孩拿了一本书。” The speaker has said what happened, but not yet what it means or what they think.
A developed response makes a move: “这说明共享书架可以让社区里的书继续被使用。我认为这个做法很好,因为……” The observation now supports an opinion and opens space for a reason and example.
The tutor should diagnose the missing layer rather than simply ask for a longer answer. A student may lack topic vocabulary, a sentence link, an example, confidence with follow-up questions or control of speaking pace. Each problem needs a different repair.
Build one developed answer
Imagine an original practice video showing neighbours leaving and borrowing books at a community shelf. A question asks whether such sharing corners are useful.
- Observation: 录像中,居民把读过的书放在共享书架上。
- Meaning: 这说明一本书可以让更多人阅读,而不是读完后就被丢掉。
- View and reason: 我认为共享书架很有用,因为它既能减少浪费,也能让阅读更方便。
- Example: 例如,家里没有某本书的学生可以先到社区书架寻找,也可以把自己的旧书分享给别人。
- Qualification: 不过,使用者也应该保持书架整齐,并把破损的书妥善处理。
The sequence is a thinking scaffold, not a script to recite. Change the topic and keep only the reasoning route: observation → meaning → view → reason → example.
Prepare for follow-up questions
The oral task is a conversation, so the student must listen to the examiner’s actual question. A prepared point about community spirit may not answer a follow-up about maintenance, responsibility or personal experience.
Practise three follow-up types: “Why?”, “Can you give an example?” and “What difficulty might arise?” The child should pause briefly, answer directly, then develop. Repeating the entire first response usually wastes time and weakens interaction.
If vocabulary fails, teach repair language that keeps the conversation moving, such as “换句话说……” or “我的意思是……”. The aim is clear communication, not pretending that hesitation never happens.
Check independent speaking
Independent progress is visible when the student can select one relevant video detail, state a view, extend it with a reason and example, and respond to a follow-up without receiving a full sentence from the tutor.
Use short recordings across several everyday topics. Track one bottleneck at a time: relevance, development, organisation, vocabulary, pronunciation or fluency. A longer answer is useful only when it becomes clearer and more connected.
Continue with the existing G3 Chinese word-replacement guide to strengthen context-sensitive vocabulary control.
Choose a focused next step
Use the Primary, PSLE and SEC subject directory to find related parent questions.
Bring one recent oral recording or school comment to a consultation. Ask whether the first missing link is understanding the question, finding a view, developing it, retrieving vocabulary or handling interaction.
The Clementi Secondary 1 Mathematics guide illustrates diagnosis and focused 3-pax teaching. Close attention can be applied conditionally when the actual learner, subject and provider provision have been confirmed.
Official syllabus checked 11 October 2026. The video, questions and response examples here are original teaching activities, not SEAB questions or official model answers.
