- Lower is more competitive. PSLE Scores run from 4 (best) to 30. A Posting Group 3 cut-off of 14 means the last student admitted in that group scored 14.
- A cut-off is not a target. It is last year’s result. It moves every year with demand.
- Posting Groups replaced streams. Under Full Subject-Based Banding, students are posted through Posting Groups 1, 2 and 3, then take subjects at G1, G2 or G3 levels according to their strengths. Classes are mixed, and students can take subjects at a higher level if they do well.
What the Punggol Numbers Tell Us
- Edgefield, Yusof Ishak and Greendale are close together at the Posting Group 3 level (14 to 16). A small difference in a child’s score can decide between them.
- Punggol Secondary had the widest Posting Group 3 range, with a cut-off of 19.

How to Choose Calmly
- Look beyond the number. Visit open houses. Ask about CCAs, subject offerings, applied subjects and how the school supports students who move between G2 and G3.
- Think about the journey. A school your child can walk or take one LRT stop to buys back hours every week for sleep, reading and play.
- Use all six choices wisely. Mix one or two stretch choices, a couple of good fits and at least one safe choice.
- Remember Secondary 1 is a fresh start. Under Full Subject-Based Banding, strong effort in Secondary 1 and 2 opens doors to higher subject levels.
