If an NLB e-book or audiobook becomes available in Libby when you are busy, you can suspend the hold and keep your place on the waitlist. Open Shelf, choose Holds and select the title. Suspend it if you still want to read it later, or cancel the hold if you are finished with it.
This works with the NLB collection you use as a Punggol Regional Library reader. You can manage a digital hold from your phone. If you also reserved a printed book for pickup at One Punggol, check that reservation separately in your NLB account.
- If you are ready to read now, borrow the title before the offer expires.
- If you want it later, suspend the hold to keep your place in the queue.
- When you are ready again, reopen the hold and unsuspend it.
- If you no longer want it, cancel the hold to remove it from your list.
What to do when Libby says your book is ready

Open Libby and go to Shelf, then Holds. If the title is ready, choose Borrow if you can start it soon. Libby says you have 72 hours from availability to act. If you are already partway through another book, or the audiobook arrives just before a busy week, choose Suspend instead. Libby’s help for managing holds shows the steps for ready and pending holds.
Check that the notification is for the format you wanted. If you joined separate waitlists for an e-book and an audiobook, opening the title in Shelf lets you see which one is available. You can keep the format that suits how you plan to read.
How to suspend a hold that is still in the queue

Under Shelf and Holds, select Manage Hold for the title, choose Suspend Hold and confirm. Libby keeps your place while the title circulates to other readers. The service says the hold stays suspended until you manually unsuspend it. Set a reminder if you want to resume when an exam, trip or current book is out of the way.
For example, you might pause an audiobook on Monday because you are still listening to a longer loan. When you finish that loan, go back to Holds and unsuspend the new one. You keep your queue position, but the copy still needs to become available.
When cancelling is the better choice
If you borrowed the book in another format or lost interest, use Manage Hold and choose Cancel Hold, then confirm. Libby removes that hold, so you would need to place a new one if you change your mind. Review the title and format before cancelling if you have several similar entries. Libby’s cancellation instructions show the exact steps.
