X-Rays, Blood Tests and Scans near Punggol: Where to Go and How Referrals Work

An elevated view shows a white arch bridge carrying a road across a waterway in Punggol, with landscaped greenery and apartment blocks around it.

For an X-ray near Punggol, Punggol Polyclinic at Oasis Terraces does general X-rays, ultrasound and mammograms, and runs a blood-test lab by appointment. Most tests need a doctor’s request form. For CT and MRI, the nearest verified option is Sengkang General Hospital’s radiology department.

The tests themselves are rarely the hard part. Knowing which form goes to which counter usually is.

This page is part of eduKate Punggol’s Essential Information for Punggol, our quick answers and where-to-go lists for everyday life in Punggol. It explains where to get X-rays, scans and blood tests in and near Punggol, the hours and cut-off times, how referrals work, and what the subsidies look like.

Which Test Route Fits You

Your doctor wants a general X-ray

Take the request form to the polyclinic’s radiology counter and register within the cut-off times. No separate appointment is needed for a general X-ray.

You need an ultrasound or a diagnostic mammogram

These also need a doctor’s request. Drop the form at the polyclinic, and you will be told your appointment within five working days.

You would like routine breast screening

A screening mammogram needs no referral, but it is by appointment. You are eligible if you are 40 to 49 and have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months, or 50 and above with none in the past 24 months. Call 6536 6000 (Mon–Fri 8.30am–5.30pm) or use SingHealth’s online form. A reply takes three to five working days.

Your private GP has given you a request form

SingHealth Polyclinics accept GP requests for lab tests, general ultrasound (kidney, abdomen, pelvis, thyroid and bladder), general X-ray and mammograms. For blood tests, bring the GP’s form and arrive at least an hour before the lab closes.

You need a bone density scan

Polyclinics do not do bone density scans. SingHealth says they are done at SGH and CGH, and SKH’s radiology department also lists them.

Your child needs a blood test

The polyclinic lab does not take blood from children under seven. Ask your child’s doctor where the test should be done.

How to Get a Test Done at Punggol Polyclinic

  1. Get the request form. For lab tests, a paper form, a soft copy or a photo on your phone is accepted.
  2. Match the form to the route. General X-ray: walk in. Blood test: book. Ultrasound or diagnostic mammogram: drop off the form and wait for a date.
  3. Book the lab. Call 6643 6969. If your form is from a SingHealth hospital, call first to check that the polyclinic can take it.
  4. Watch the cut-offs. X-ray registration closes at 12.45pm and 4.30pm on weekdays, and at 12pm on Saturday.
  5. Follow the preparation notes. If you are unsure about fasting or medicines before a test, follow the lab form or ask the clinic.
  6. Ask about results. Find out how results reach you and who will explain them. A referral does not set a date by itself, so ask who takes the next step.

What to Bring

  • The doctor’s request form, on paper or on your phone.
  • Your NRIC.
  • A list of your medicines.
  • Any earlier scan reports, if the new scan follows up an old one.
  • Something to read. Even well-run queues take a little time.

Costs and Subsidies

We could not confirm polyclinic X-ray, scan or lab fees. See SingHealth’s charges and payment page or ask at the counter. We did not find published prices for private imaging in Punggol.

If you are referred onward to a public specialist clinic, MOH applies subsidies automatically for Singapore Citizens and PRs referred by a polyclinic or CHAS GP. No application is needed. From 1 January 2025, the subsidy for Singapore Citizens depends on monthly household income per person:

Neighbour’s Tips

  • Saturday is short. X-ray registration closes at 12pm on Saturdays. If you arrive at 12.10pm, you are coming back on Monday.
  • No walk-in blood tests. The polyclinic lab is appointment-only. A form in your hand is not a booking.
  • Private GP form? Go early. Arrive by 3.30pm on a weekday or by 12pm on a Saturday, so you are at least an hour ahead of the lab closing.
  • Quick results for simple tests. For GP requests, SingHealth reports onsite tests such as HbA1c, full blood count and urine dipstick in about 60 minutes if requested before 4pm. Send-out tests take up to a week.
  • Know your SKH floor. Level 2 for general imaging, Level 3 for orthopaedic X-rays, Level 5 for breast imaging.
  • Book screening early. The screening mammogram reply takes three to five working days.

If It Is Urgent or Out of Hours

  • Polyclinic tests run on weekdays and Saturday mornings only. SKH’s outpatient radiology runs Monday to Friday, 8.30am–6pm.
  • An injury that needs imaging tonight: go to A&E. Our nearest hospitals guide explains which one to choose.
  • Emergency: call 995. For a non-emergency ambulance, call 1777.
