The nearest place to donate clothes Punggol residents can use is the Re:Nue (The Salvation Army) donation booth at Northshore Plaza I, 407 Northshore Drive. It takes small items such as clothes, shoes, bags, books and toys. Furniture needs a Re:Nue donation appointment, and worn-out clothes belong in a Cloop bin.
Good news for tidy-up weekends: most things in your cupboard have a sensible next home, and several are within Punggol.

Hours checked October 2026 — confirm on the official page before you go: Re:Nue donation points · Food from the Heart · Food Bank boxes · Punggol Town Council bulky refuse removal. For a wider list by item, NEA keeps an official donation, resale and repair channels page (last updated August 2026).
Where Each Item Should Go
Clothes in good condition
Use the Re:Nue booth at Northshore Plaza I. NEA’s list also names H&M Garment Collecting (any brand, any condition), Zara’s clothes collection, Kloth Circularity bins (see its bin map) and Greensquare, which offers free doorstep textile collection. NEA’s list (updated August 2026) shows Dress for Success as closed for clothing donations.
Clothes that are torn, stained or tired
Re:Nue only wants items that are clean and resaleable. For the rest, Cloop accepts clothes, bags, shoes, linen and soft toys in any dry condition. Our Cloop guide shows how to pack them.
Books
Re:Nue takes books, including school textbooks. NEA also lists Dignity Mama book kiosks, MINDS and Thryft, an online second-hand bookstore where you can trade in or donate. Damaged books go into the blue recycling bin. Our guide to choosing the right recipient for books goes further.
Toys and baby items
Re:Nue, SiloamXperience, South Central Community and SSVP are on NEA’s list for toys and children’s items. Soft toys can go to Cloop. A complete toy with all its parts is far more useful to the next child than one with pieces missing.
Furniture
Book a Re:Nue donation appointment, because the booths do not take bulky items. Pass It On lists furniture and household goods online and matches them with families in need through welfare organisations. NEA also lists SSVP, TOUCH, MINDS, Greensquare and Cloop for furniture. The Red Cross does not take furniture.
Working electronics, and spoilt ones
Working items can go to Re:Nue, Pass It On and others on NEA’s list. Spoilt electronics are e-waste: use a national e-waste bin (go.gov.sg/e-waste), retailer take-back when you buy a replacement, or ALBA’s doorstep collection for large appliances (a fee applies).
Food
Packaged food goes into a Food Bank box or the Community Shop’s 24/7 box. Our food support page explains where that food ends up.
How to Donate Well, Step by Step
- Use the “would I use it again?” test. Re:Nue asks for items that are clean, resaleable and free of damage, stains or faults.
- Sort by destination. Make three piles: Re:Nue booth, Cloop or recycling, and anything needing an appointment.
- Wash and pack. Wash clothes and fold them into bags you can carry easily. Label fragile items, collectibles and antiques, as Re:Nue asks.
- Check the booth rules. No chemicals, flammables or sharp objects. Put items into the receptacles, never on the floor.
- Book anything big. Furniture goes through a Re:Nue appointment. If nobody can use it, book Punggol Town Council’s bulky refuse removal.
- Hand over food the right way. Non-perishables with at least three months to expiry go into Food from the Heart’s 24/7 box. Do not leave fresh food in any box; check with the charity first.
What to Prepare
- Bags you are happy to part with. Re:Nue’s booths are receptacles, so loose items make a mess.
- Photos and rough measurements of any furniture, in case the charity asks for them.
- For Town Council removal: your block and unit number, a list of the items, and a plan to have them outside your flat on the day.
- For food: check every expiry date before you leave home.
- A quick look at Re:Nue’s accepted items page, which lists clothing, shoes, bags, books, toys, furniture, electronics, sports equipment, household goods and medical devices such as wheelchairs and walking frames.
Costs and Rules
- Re:Nue booths: donating is free.
- Punggol Town Council bulky removal: free, up to 3 movable household items per month per unit. A furniture set counts as more than one item. The council does not dismantle items or take renovation debris or built-in fittings such as kitchen cabinets and wardrobes. Book 3 to 5 days ahead (the terms mention 3 working days, so confirm when booking).
- Food Bank boxes: unopened, unexpired dry or packaged food only, with a minimum time left to expiry. The box page gave two different minimums when we checked in October 2026, so check the current rule live on The Food Bank Singapore’s box page before you shop.
- Food from the Heart: at least 3 months to expiry, manageable sizes, no junk food such as chips.
- ALBA doorstep collection: charged.
Neighbour’s Tips for Donating in Punggol
- Combine the Northshore trip. The Re:Nue booth and a 24-hour Food Bank box are both at Northshore Plaza I, so clothes and canned food can go in one outing.
- Full booth? Come back later. Leaving bags beside a full receptacle is exactly what Re:Nue asks donors not to do.
- Red Cross needs an email first. The Red Cross Shop no longer accepts walk-in drop-offs. Donations are by appointment only.
- Ignore old names. The Salvation Army’s goods donations now go through Re:Nue. Its Tanglin Road and JTC Defu booths are permanently closed, and NEA’s list (updated August 2026) says TOUCH’s 301 Thrift Mart has suspended operations.
- Let children choose. Ask your child to pick the toys and books to give away. It goes better than a surprise clear-out.
- Some things are worth selling. Branded clothes and working appliances may fetch something at a second-hand shop. See our thrift and preloved shops guide.
- Check door-to-door collectors. Before you hand bags to anyone collecting “for charity”, read our guide to verifying a charity appeal.
Moving Out or Clearing a Flat in a Hurry
Start with the Town Council, because collections run only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons and need a few days’ notice. Book Re:Nue for furniture that is still in good shape at the same time. Small items can go to the Northshore Plaza I booth during its operating hours.

A Lighter Cupboard, a Kinder Home
A good donation is a clean item, in the right box, on a day the box is not full. Start with one shelf this weekend: the Northshore Plaza I booth for what is wearable, Cloop for what is not, and an appointment for the bookcase. Somebody will be glad of it.
