Donate Books From Punggol | Choose the Right Recipient First

Three learners review open books together at a classroom table, with stacks of textbooks, stationery and a whiteboard in the bright room.

If you are looking to donate books from Punggol, choose and confirm a recipient before carrying boxes to a library or charity. NEA’s reuse directory lists book-donation routes including Dignity Mama, MINDS and Re:Nue; each organisation’s current rules still need checking.

NLB’s Donate to our Collections service is a separate collection-enquiry process. Its page provides a donation form and enquiry@nlb.gov.sg. Use that route for proposed collection material rather than assuming your household books have already been accepted.

Keep your own books separate from borrowed library books. A library bookdrop is a return service, not an agreement to accept donated books. Arrange the handover explicitly so the right organisation receives material it can use.

Sort a useful inventory

Separate fiction, children’s books, reference titles and workbooks. Note the approximate quantity, languages and condition so a potential recipient can understand the offer.

Check for missing pages, dampness and personal information tucked inside. A photograph of book spines can be more informative than a picture of closed boxes.

Ask a recipient before travelling

Use the organisation links in NEA’s directory and check its current donation instructions. Ask whether the category and quantity you have are useful now.

A Punggol family clearing a child’s shelves can offer a specific set rather than asking someone to take everything. If a recipient wants only part of the collection, keep that accepted pile separate.

Use NLB’s collection enquiry appropriately

If you believe material may suit NLB’s collections, read its collection scope and complete the linked donation form. Wait for the response before planning delivery.

Include a concise description of what makes the material relevant. An enquiry is a chance to establish suitability, not a reason to send an unrequested parcel.

Use boxes you can safely carry and label them by the agreed category. Keep any confirmation with the destination and handover instructions.

If no recipient accepts part of the collection, pause and consider another reuse route. Avoid turning an unsuccessful donation trip into books left outside someone else’s premises.
