SIT students at Punggol can seek a research consultation with professional librarians for help finding relevant resources, developing search strategies, using specialised databases and working with citation managers.
Start with the Library’s Book Spaces & Consultations page. Use its current consultation route and check available appointments rather than assuming a particular day, duration or meeting format.
For booking questions, the Library lists Library@SingaporeTech.edu.sg and WhatsApp +65 8104 5445. Explain what you need help with; a clear research question is more useful than a request to find everything about a broad subject.

Find the information you need
Bring the question and what you have tried
Ask for a search you can repeat
Keep evidence and references together
Confirm the appointment before relying on it
Bring the question and what you have tried
As practical preparation, write down the assignment question, the part you find difficult and two or three searches you have already attempted. Note which results looked promising and why they did not fully answer your need.
Bring the assignment’s source requirements if any. A search for background reading, a recent research paper and an industry report can lead in different directions. Showing the requirement helps you ask a precise question without expecting the librarian to infer the whole assignment.
Ask for a search you can repeat
A useful aim for the appointment is to understand how to continue independently. Ask how the search terms were chosen, which filters matter and how to recognise a result worth opening.
Keep notes on the reasoning as well as the clicks. An interface may change, but remembering why you narrowed a topic or tried an alternative term makes the next search easier. This is suggested preparation, not a prescribed SIT consultation agenda.
Keep evidence and references together
When you identify a useful source, record enough detail to find it again. Keep the title, creator, date and stable link where available alongside a short note explaining its relevance.
A citation manager can organise records, but you still need to check the information and follow the assignment’s referencing instructions. Ask a focused question about the part of the workflow you cannot complete rather than expecting a tool to judge the quality of your argument.
Confirm the appointment before relying on it
Read the booking confirmation for the actual arrangements. If the available session does not fit your deadline, contact the Library and explain the timing rather than assuming an urgent slot will be available.
Our SIT Punggol guide provides campus orientation. This guide concerns research support; it does not confirm a booking or promise that a librarian will complete or approve an assignment.
Independent local guide by eduKatePunggol. Checked against the linked official SIT sources on 17 October 2026. Facilities, availability and procedures can change; confirm the current arrangements with the Library.
