Unemployed parents in Punggol can still apply for the Kindergarten Fee Assistance Scheme (KiFAS). ECDA says unemployment does not prevent an application when the child and family meet its criteria.
The child must be a Singapore Citizen attending a kindergarten run by an Anchor Operator or the Ministry of Education. Check the particular kindergarten and programme rather than assuming every preschool uses KiFAS.
The income criteria are gross monthly household income of $12,000 or less, or per capita income of $3,000 or less for households with five or more members. Ask the kindergarten how to proceed with your application.
In this guide
CHAPTER 1 OF 4
Check the programme first
The ECDA answer for unemployed parents identifies the eligible kindergarten settings and child citizenship requirement.
Tell the centre the programme your child attends. A question about kindergarten fee assistance should not be answered by assuming childcare subsidy rules are identical.
CHAPTER 2 OF 4
Check the income route
Use the stated household-income or applicable per-capita-income route. If you are unsure which family details belong in the application, ask before submitting.
Our PCI family-income guide explains the registered-address rule for that route.
CHAPTER 3 OF 4
Ask for application help
A useful enquiry is: “I am currently unemployed. My child attends this kindergarten programme. How do I apply for KiFAS, and what information should I prepare?”
Follow the application instructions and provide accurate details. Keep a record of anything requested and what you have supplied.
CHAPTER 4 OF 4
Confirm the assessed amount
Being able to apply is not a promise of a particular payment amount. Read your application outcome and ask the kindergarten to explain the assistance approved.
Confirm the payable fee for the relevant month before setting your budget. Keep the outcome and invoices together for later reference.
Information checked on 12 October 2026. Follow the current official instructions and the guidance given for your child’s application.
