When your child transfers to another preschool, ECDA treats the transfer as a new enrolment. Applicants need a new LifeSG subsidy application and household means-testing to determine the eligible subsidy using current circumstances.
Punggol parents should not assume the previous centre’s subsidy amount simply follows the child. Confirm the receiving centre’s enrolment and subsidy steps before budgeting the new monthly payment.
The same issue can arise when moving between branches of one preschool organisation. ECDA describes withdrawal at the old centre, new enrolment at the receiving centre and a fresh subsidy application, rather than an unchanged subsidy record.
In this guide
What if both centres belong to the same chain?
CHAPTER 1 OF 4
Why is income assessed again?
The ECDA transfer and means-testing FAQ explains that HOMES assesses current household income and circumstances after the new application.
Keep the previous outcome as a reference, but use the new assessment when establishing the receiving centre’s subsidy. Ask which information is needed for the current application.
CHAPTER 2 OF 4
What if both centres belong to the same chain?
ECDA’s same-organisation transfer guidance identifies the withdrawal, enrolment and reassessment steps. A withdrawal notification can therefore be part of a planned branch transfer.
Check that the old and new centres have recorded the dates correctly. If an email does not match your planned move, clarify it with the centres rather than assuming it is harmless.
CHAPTER 3 OF 4
What should I ask the receiving centre?
Confirm the programme, start date, fees and subsidy application process. Ask how the bill will be handled while the new assessment is pending.
Keep the old centre’s last attendance date beside the new start date. Review deposits, notice requirements and any overlap separately from the subsidy assessment.
CHAPTER 4 OF 4
How should our family plan the transition?
Budget using confirmed figures and identify any temporary payment uncertainty before the move. Avoid treating a previous subsidy as an approved amount for the new centre.
For the child, confirm drop-off, collection and settling-in arrangements at the new preschool. A clear administrative plan helps the family focus on the learning transition.
Information checked on 11 October 2026. Follow ECDA’s current scheme instructions and the guidance given for your child’s application.
