No. ECDA says you cannot give consent on behalf of your spouse for the LifeSG preschool subsidy or Kindergarten Fee Assistance Scheme (KiFAS) application.
Your spouse’s consent is required for checks on their details, including identity, date of birth and citizenship. Completing your own portion does not replace this consent.
If your spouse cannot complete the step, explain the circumstances to the preschool and ask for the applicable official instructions. Do not sign as your spouse or use their credentials to get past the form.
CHAPTER 1 OF 4
Separate assistance from consent
The ECDA spouse-consent answer sets the general rule. Helping someone understand a request is not the same as providing their consent.
As practical preparation, agree a time to review what remains outstanding. Each person should follow the instructions addressed to them.
CHAPTER 2 OF 4
Identify the real difficulty
Tell the centre whether the problem is a missing invitation, login trouble or an inability to provide consent. These situations should not be treated as interchangeable.
Describe the relevant screen or message. Avoid sending unnecessary identity documents simply because you are unsure what the form needs.
CHAPTER 3 OF 4
Ask for case-specific guidance
If circumstances prevent completion, ask which official route applies to your situation. Do not assume marriage automatically authorises you to act for another person.
Where a family member is overseas and unable to sign, there is a separate verification route. Ask for the relevant guidance rather than treating it as a general permission to consent for anyone.
CHAPTER 4 OF 4
Check that the application is complete
Before the deadline, review the remaining actions shown for your application. Keep any assistance instructions and submission confirmation together.
Do not assume that one parent finishing the main form means every required step is complete. If uncertain, ask the centre precisely which action remains.
Information checked on 11 October 2026. Follow the current official instructions and the guidance given for your child’s application.
