How to Check Your Child’s PSEA Balance and Transactions: A Punggol Guide

Three students in school uniforms work through open books at a classroom table, with textbooks and stationery nearby and study notes on the whiteboard behind them.

Punggol parents and students can check current PSEA balances and transaction history through MOE’s Student Finance System (SFS). Use the access available to your role and select the correct account holder before comparing the balance with an upcoming education bill.

A PSEA balance is not confirmation that an institution has been authorised to deduct fees. Check the account funds, the payment authorisation and the institution’s bill separately. Each answers a different question about whether the fee can be paid.

If a deduction looks unfamiliar or a bill remains unpaid, record the date, amount and institution shown. Ask the institution’s finance office about the charge and use MOE’s support route for an account issue rather than assuming the money has disappeared.

CHAPTER 1 OF 5

Open the right account

MOE’s SFS getting-started guide explains that account holders and parents or legal guardians can view relevant balances and transactions. Access depends on role and eligibility.

In a family with several children, check the account holder’s name each time. A screenshot saved from a sibling’s account or from an earlier date is not a reliable basis for today’s payment plan.

CHAPTER 2 OF 5

Read the transaction history

Compare the current balance with the entries available in the portal. Note withdrawals, refunds and contributions shown, and keep a dated record if you are investigating a discrepancy.

SFS also provides an annual statement download. An annual statement is useful for reviewing past activity, while the current account view is the better starting point for checking funds available now.

CHAPTER 3 OF 5

Match a deduction to the bill

Keep the institution’s invoice beside the transaction record. Compare the amount, fee period and description. If one account payment covers several approved charges, ask the finance office for a breakdown.

Do not assume a PSEA withdrawal and a bank payment are duplicate charges simply because they happened close together. First establish what each payment was intended to cover and whether the bill has been reconciled.

CHAPTER 4 OF 5

Check authorisation separately

Ask whether the institution has the necessary standing order or withdrawal authorisation and whether it covers the intended fee. Having sufficient funds does not settle those administrative questions.

If you recently submitted an application, keep its acknowledgement and check the stated status. Ask the institution how to handle any fee deadline that arrives before payment is reflected.

CHAPTER 5 OF 5

Resolve a discrepancy with useful records

Send the finance office the invoice reference, disputed amount and relevant transaction date. Explain what you expected and what the record shows. Use the official channel requested for account information.

For portal difficulties, follow the support instructions in SFS. Once the issue is resolved, retain the explanation and updated bill so the family does not repeat the same enquiry at the next payment cycle.
