KCare and primary-school student care serve different stages of a child’s education. KCare supports children attending MOE Kindergarten, while primary-school student care supports primary pupils outside school curriculum hours. Punggol parents should check the service attached to their child’s actual stage rather than assuming one enrolment continues automatically into the next.
At MK@Punggol Green, the official KCare information describes activities such as crafts, cookery, gardening, music, play and dedicated reading time. That is a different purpose from a primary pupil’s afternoon routine, which may include homework supervision. When comparing KCare and student care in Punggol, ask what the child will do, how handovers work and which hours are covered.
If your child is moving from K2 to Primary 1, confirm the new care application, operator, vacancies, fees, holiday arrangements and pickup procedure separately. Map the last day of the old arrangement and the first day of the new one. This simple check can prevent a gap between kindergarten care and the primary-school year.

CHAPTER 1 OF 5
Match the service to the school stage
Begin with the child’s enrolment: MOE Kindergarten or primary school. A centre may be located within a school campus without serving every age group in that campus.
The Punggol Green KCare page, updated in July 2026, is a useful local example of kindergarten care provision. Use your own MK’s current information to check its operator and arrangements.
Ask whether there are separate forms, acceptance requirements and payment arrangements. A familiar building does not remove the need to verify the next service.
CHAPTER 2 OF 5
Look at the child’s actual day
For kindergarten children, ask about play, meals, rest, reading and transitions between the MK session and care. For primary pupils, ask about lunch, schoolwork, recreation and movement between CCA and care.
Do not use the presence of academic worksheets as your only quality measure. A child also needs predictable adults, a workable routine and time to recover from the school day.
Ask how staff communicate unfinished tasks or a difficult afternoon. Clear communication lets the family respond to the right issue rather than assuming everything was completed.
CHAPTER 3 OF 5
Check hours and closure dates separately
Request the current operating calendar. Distinguish school holidays, public holidays and centre closure days. Ask whether hours differ during term time and holidays.
Do not assume that a day without kindergarten or school lessons means care is available. Check the centre’s notice for that date.
Build a backup plan for days when care is closed. Name the adult responsible and the pickup or arrival arrangements before the family’s work calendar becomes crowded.
CHAPTER 4 OF 5
Prepare the K2-to-Primary-1 handover
Ask the incoming primary school when student-care enquiries or applications should be made. Keep the acknowledgement and clarify whether a place has actually been offered.
Confirm when the kindergarten-care arrangement ends. If there is a period between services, agree on how the child will spend those days.
Show your child the new routine in small steps: school first, then care, then collection. Explain where belongings go and whom to ask when confused. Familiar instructions can make a new environment easier.
CHAPTER 5 OF 5
Compare costs without mixing schemes
Request the relevant fee schedule and ask which subsidy process, if any, applies. Do not carry a kindergarten-care subsidy assumption into a primary student-care budget.
Check deposits, notice periods, holiday charges and optional activities. Write down the total costs you have confirmed and leave uncertain items marked for follow-up.
For the next stage, use our school-based student-care application guide. Make the care decision around a workable family day and your child’s needs.
Information checked on 10 October 2026. Follow current official notices and the arrangements for your child’s school and cohort.
