The fastest way to identify the correct corridor
- What year will the student sit the national examination?
- Is the subject Mathematics or Additional Mathematics?
- For SEC cohorts, what subject level—G1, G2 or G3—is the student taking?
- What exact syllabus code appears on the school/SEAB document?
Do not infer the code from a tuition page, old textbook or sibling’s previous examination.
The 2026 GCE O‑Level corridor
SEAB lists the following for 2026 GCE O‑Level school candidates:

These are the legacy GCE O‑Level syllabus codes. A student sitting these examinations in 2026 should prepare against the 2026 4052 or 4049 documents, not a 2027 SEC code.
The 2027 SEC transition
From 2027, the GCE N(T), N(A) and O‑Level certificates are combined into the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) in line with Full Subject-Based Banding. Students sit subjects at their respective subject levels.
For 2027 SEC school candidates, SEAB lists Mathematics at three levels and Additional Mathematics at two levels.

G2 and G3 Additional Mathematics are real, distinct syllabuses. Tuition should teach the actual level taken rather than quietly substituting another level.
Why “my child is in Posting Group X” is not enough
Full Subject-Based Banding allows students to take different subjects at different subject levels. A student’s Posting Group does not by itself tell you the level of every subject.
- Confirm Mathematics subject level separately.
- Confirm Additional Mathematics separately if offered.
- Use school documents and the applicable SEAB syllabus.
This is especially important when buying assessment books, selecting past papers or comparing tuition programmes.
Mathematics versus Additional Mathematics
Additional Mathematics is not simply a harder worksheet version of Mathematics. It is a separate subject with a stronger symbolic and algebraic load. The syllabus and prerequisite floor differ by subject level.

- Use the exact 2026 SEAB syllabus document.

- If the student takes 4052 Mathematics and/or 4049 A‑Math, keep those corridors separate.
If your child is in the first 2027 SEC cohort
- Confirm the actual subject level—G1, G2 or G3.
- Use the 2027 SEC syllabus page for that level.
- For Mathematics, confirm K110/K210/K310.
- For Additional Mathematics, confirm K232 or K341 where applicable.
- Use specimen or official materials appropriate to that syllabus when available.
If your child will sit SEC after 2027
Do not assume the 2027 document will remain unchanged forever. SEAB publishes syllabuses by examination year. Use the 2027 structure to understand the system, then check the specific syllabus for your child’s own examination year once it is published.
