Start at Punggol Regional Library in One Punggol for NLB’s Punggol Stories exhibition, then continue to Punggol Heritage Trail near SIT if the group wants an outdoor stop. The exhibition and trail are at different locations. Allow time to travel from the community hub near Sam Kee LRT to the district around Punggol Coast MRT.
Choose one question to carry between the stops. A child could look for a clue about how people once travelled through Punggol, then notice how the old road and new district sit beside each other today. Keep the outdoor leg optional so the outing still works if the weather changes.
- Pick one exhibition floor at the library.
- Save one detail to look for or compare outdoors.
- Check the trail map and any notices before changing locations.
- Plan an out-and-back walk from the open trail section.

Find the part you need

NLB identifies three parts of the trail inside the library. Words That Move is in the Stories Come Alive Room on Level 1, The Lens of Literature is at Sing Lit on Level 3, and the exhibition at Singaporium is on Level 4. For a short visit, start with the section that fits the question you have chosen. Ask a child to point out one object, photograph or caption they want to remember.
Write down the name or date shown on the label if it matters to the question. If you plan to take a photo, follow the library’s instructions. A brief note can be easier to use outdoors than a long set of photographs with no labels.

One Punggol is near Sam Kee LRT. If you are going to the trail by rail, use a current journey planner for the connection to Punggol Coast MRT. Once in the district, use NParks’ map and local signs to locate the trail from Campus Boulevard. The first opened stretch ran between Campus Boulevard and Punggol North Avenue. Check the current route before assuming that you can continue through to another park.

Ask what the exhibition showed and what the trail lets you observe directly. A photograph or map in the library might show an earlier layout. On the trail, a current sign, path or building can give a different view of the same area. Explain which details came from which stop. If a child wants to write a sentence afterwards, have them include one observation and name its source.

Can we do just the library stop?

Are both stops near the same station?
