Punggol Library Teenspace | Find a First Book to Read for Pleasure

Main building of One Punggol community hub in Singapore.

Teenspace is on Level 3 of Punggol Regional Library, inside One Punggol. If you want something to read for pleasure, start with a subject you already enjoy. That could be football, mystery, fantasy, design or a story told in pictures. Give yourself permission to browse before settling on a title.

The aim of the visit can be small: find one book you want to open again after leaving the library. If you have only a short time, read the opening or a sample spread and check whether you are curious about what happens next.

  • Go to Level 3 and follow the signs for Teenspace.
  • Choose a subject, mood or type of story.
  • Try two openings before choosing.
  • Check borrowing availability or save the title for later.

If you enjoy watching stories about investigations, try a mystery. If you like a game for the world it builds, look for a story set somewhere unfamiliar. If you prefer images and dialogue, try a graphic novel. The point is to start from something you would choose yourself. A friend can suggest a title while leaving the final choice to you.

The NLB fact sheet identifies Teenspace as one of the library’s features. Use the current signs or ask staff if you need help finding a collection. The photos show One Punggol and its public areas.

Try the first pages before choosing

Open two books and read enough to see what each one is like. For a novel, try the first page and look for a character or situation you want to follow. For a graphic novel, see whether the panels make you want to turn the page. For a nonfiction book, find a heading you would choose to read first.

If neither book appeals to you, change one thing about the search. Try a shorter book, a different subject or a different format. If a title catches your interest but is unavailable, use the catalogue to check another copy or save the title for next time.

Borrow an eligible title through the usual library process or note the title you want to look up later. If you are meeting family after browsing, agree on a named point and a time. One Punggol is at 1 Punggol Drive, beside Sam Kee LRT.
