Bus Guide | Where to Go, What to Do | Interesting Places Go-Ahead Singapore Bus Service 386 Goes To

Bus at an alighting area in Punggol bus interchange.

Where does Go-Ahead Singapore Bus Service 386 go, and what interesting places can you visit? Bus 386 makes a local loop from Punggol Bus Interchange through Edgefield Plains, Oasis, Edgedale Plains, Coral Edge and Riviera before returning. Its most useful visitor destinations are Oasis Terraces and the Punggol Plaza area near Coral Edge. This is a neighbourhood service, not a direct bus to every attraction with Punggol in its name. Source: official Service 386 route.

This Bus Guide explains how to make a practical outing: arrive at the correct shopping centre, complete a local errand, attend a scheduled polyclinic appointment or practise reading a route with a child. It gives the selected stop codes and, more importantly, shows how to avoid riding the wrong part of a loop.

The detail to remember is that 386 serves Oasis twice, from different sides. One call occurs before the bus continues around the eastern neighbourhood; the other occurs later on its way back. The short-trip 386A does not complete that whole circuit. Choosing a number without checking its position in the route can therefore create an avoidable detour.

The short answer: where to get off

For Oasis, check 65319 Oasis Stn Exit A on the early part of the circuit and 65311 Oasis Stn Exit B/Blk 617D on the later part. For the Coral Edge neighbourhood, check 65171 Coral Edge Stn Exit B; Riviera follows at 65231 Riviera Stn Exit B. The full route starts and ends at 65009 Punggol Int. Source: SimplyGo Service 386.

Go-Ahead’s timetable lists origin departures from 5.45am to 12.35am daily. Its short-trip note says 386A ends at Blk 682A on Edgedale Plains. Use live information for the actual shelter; a last departure printed for the interchange is not a last-bus time at Oasis. Operator timetable and variant note.

These are selected reference points from the operator’s full sequence, cross-checked with SimplyGo. None is a claim that the destination’s door is directly beside the shelter.

Oasis Terraces: an everyday destination worth understanding

HDB identifies Oasis Terraces as the first of its newer-generation neighbourhood centres, introduced in 2019. The idea combines everyday shopping and dining needs with community functions rather than requiring every resident to travel to a major regional mall. Source: HDB’s neighbourhood-centre overview.

For a visitor, that suggests an uncomplicated plan: choose one useful task and one optional break. Buy what the household actually needs, eat at an open outlet, or meet someone at a clearly named entrance. Do not make the outing depend on a particular tenant unless its current location and hours have been checked.

A family can also use the visit to notice how a neighbourhood centre differs from a destination shopping mall. Ask what people appear to be using it for: a routine errand, a meal, a meeting or an appointment. Keep these as observations from the visit rather than claims about every resident’s habits.

For a first-time visitor, choose the exact entrance before setting off. “Oasis” can refer to the LRT station, the roadside stop or the wider neighbourhood. An agreed meeting point should specify the building and level when necessary. The bus guide gets you to the vicinity; the building’s wayfinding completes the trip.

For a wheelchair user or someone with a pram, inspect the whole pedestrian connection. A suitable bus stop does not automatically establish that every lift, crossing or building approach will be usable at the time of the visit. Where the path is uncertain, choose a verified alternative instead of assuming a shortcut.

Punggol Polyclinic: a confirmed transport connection, not an attraction

SingHealth gives Punggol Polyclinic’s address as 681 Punggol Drive, Oasis Terraces #02-01. Its own getting-here information names Oasis LRT and specifically includes Bus 386 among the bus services along Punggol Drive. That is a direct institutional confirmation, not an inference from a nearby map label. Source: SingHealth Punggol Polyclinic.

An appointment journey should be planned differently from an optional shopping trip. Confirm the appointment time, registration instructions and correct level before travelling. Allow for the walk from the shelter, finding a lift and locating the reception area. Do not treat the bus arrival time as the appointment arrival time.

Prepare the journey in a form that another family member can use. Save the building address, the selected stop and the clinic’s instructions in one place. A relative taking over the trip should not have to reconstruct the plan from several vague messages saying “near Oasis.”

After the visit, decide on the return based on the person’s comfort. Shopping and a meal are optional additions, not obligations. A useful guide makes an essential trip easier without turning it into a sightseeing schedule.

Punggol Plaza: use Coral Edge, not a similar-sounding destination

HDB places Punggol Plaza at Block 168 Punggol Field and identifies Coral Edge LRT as its nearby station. It describes a neighbourhood shopping centre serving everyday needs. This is a different destination from Oasis Terraces and from the larger Punggol MRT shopping precinct. Source: HDB Punggol Plaza.

The selected-stop table gives the Coral Edge reference point. From there, use the actual pedestrian route to the mall entrance. Do not stay on until Riviera merely because both names belong to the East Loop. Adjoining stations can still serve different convenient approaches.

A practical visit might involve one grocery purchase, a small household errand or a meal. Choose a task that makes sense for the household rather than adding shopping just to justify a bus trip. A child can help read a shopping list and compare the item with the label before an adult decides what to buy.

Check a specific business directly before making a special trip. A building address is relatively stable; the business operating within it may change. This guide therefore names the shopping destination without promising that a particular restaurant, clinic or shop remains in the same unit.

For the return, work from the route sequence instead of expecting a mirror-image service on the opposite side of every road. A circular route can continue through other neighbourhood stops before returning to its origin. Decide whether that remaining journey suits you or whether an LRT connection is easier.

Riviera and the residential stops: useful without being tourist sights

Riviera appears later than Coral Edge in the operator’s full circuit. The intervening streets and school-named stops are part of the service’s neighbourhood role. They are useful for residents with a specific address, not an invitation to enter school grounds or private facilities. Route reference: SimplyGo.

For a visit to a friend, request the block and entrance instead of relying on the nearest station name. For a school appointment, follow the school’s instructions. For a casual outing, choose public places that are actually open to visitors. A stop name is a navigation label, not a description of access rights.

A short local journey can still help an older child practise independence. Ask the child to explain the boarding stop, destination stop and what to do after alighting, while an adult remains responsible for the trip. Correct misunderstandings before departure rather than waiting for a wrong turn to become stressful.

A useful learning goal is distinguishing the destination from the transport node. A railway platform, a bus shelter and a shopping-centre entrance are three separate objects. The journey is complete only when the traveller can connect them safely.

The two Oasis calls: a worked return-trip example

Illustrative situation: a family alights at the earlier Oasis stop, enjoys a meal and then returns to the same shelter because it feels familiar. The next bus has the right service number, but it is still progressing around the eastern section of the loop rather than taking the shorter remaining section towards the interchange.

The missing check is not the bus number. It is the position of that stop in the circuit. Before leaving the building, compare the two Oasis codes in the table and look at the next few stops after each. Use the return-side stop only after confirming a suitable legal crossing and the current display.

This is a suggested reasoning method, not an instruction to cross at an arbitrary point. Sometimes a safer or more accessible approach makes a slightly longer bus journey preferable. The aim is a journey the group can manage, not the smallest possible distance on a screen.

Once the family understands this example, the same method transfers to other loop services: locate the present stop in the ordered list, identify the remaining segment, then compare alternatives. “It eventually goes home” is true of many loops but may not describe the journey you actually want.

When 386A is suitable—and when it is not

The short trip reaches the early Oasis part before ending at Blk 682A. Therefore, a passenger whose destination is on that included segment may find it useful. A passenger intending to continue to the later Coral Edge or Riviera section should not assume it will go there. Verify the displayed endpoint against the operator’s note. Source: 386A service note.

It is better to ask a complete question before boarding: “Does this particular departure reach my stop?” That question is more useful than “Is this a 386?” because it includes the variant and the destination.

When travelling with someone else, make sure everyone is using the same plan. One person may be checking the full-loop map while another is reading the short-trip display. Agree on the bus before joining the queue, and allow the vehicle to depart if the route is still uncertain.

If the wrong variant has already been boarded, replan at a lawful stop or the endpoint. Do not expect the bus to become the full service beyond its published terminus. A calm transfer is a better repair than asking for an unscheduled stop or rushing into traffic.

Three practical outings, with a clear finish

Oasis lunch and one errand

Choose an open outlet or needed errand at Oasis Terraces. Use the early Oasis approach from the interchange, complete the main purpose and identify the appropriate return section before leaving the building. Keep a second stop optional rather than making the family complete the loop.

A Punggol Plaza visit

Use a full departure that reaches Coral Edge, follow the mapped path to Punggol Plaza and keep the shopping list modest. After the visit, compare the remaining bus circuit with a suitable LRT journey. The best return is the one that fits the group’s actual starting position and energy.

An appointment-only plan

Confirm the polyclinic appointment and registration details first. Select the Oasis stop and entrance, allow extra time for finding the right level, and leave the remainder of the day flexible. A successful appointment journey does not need an additional attraction.

A quick diagnostic before leaving home

Ask four questions in ordinary language: Which building am I visiting? Which stop serves the entrance I need? Does this departure actually reach that stop? What is the easiest suitable way home? A missing answer identifies the part of the plan that still needs work.

Do not substitute a guessed travel time for those answers. A journey with a clear stop and entrance remains understandable even when a bus is delayed. A journey planned only as “about ten minutes away” can become confusing as soon as conditions change.

Frequently asked questions

Does 386 go to Oasis Terraces?

Yes, through the Oasis LRT-area stops described above. The exact walk depends on the entrance and the side where you alight.

Is the polyclinic connection officially confirmed?

Yes. SingHealth’s Punggol Polyclinic page names Service 386 in its transport directions. Appointment and operating requirements remain separate from bus access.

Should I use Coral Edge or Riviera for Punggol Plaza?

HDB identifies Coral Edge as the nearby LRT station. Use the Coral Edge reference point and map the mall entrance rather than treating both stations as interchangeable.

Does every 386 departure complete the whole route?

No. Read the letter and endpoint. 386A is the shorter variant explained above.

Can I simply board at the same Oasis shelter to return?

Check the remaining route first. Familiarity with the shelter does not establish that the next segment is the one you need.

Does the bus stop at Punggol Coast Interchange?

It is not listed on the verified 386 loop. Use the separate Service 381 guide as a starting point for comparing a route involving Punggol Coast.
