Preschool licence tenure in Punggol refers to the period for which a centre is licensed. ECDA’s parent FAQ lists tenures of 6, 12, 24 or 36 months, depending on the standard of care and services provided.
ECDA says a longer tenure indicates that the preschool has met higher requirements under its licensing criteria. The number describes a licensing indicator, not how many years the centre has been operating.
When comparing Punggol preschools, ask about the centre’s current licence and use that information alongside your child’s needs, the programme and a conversation with the principal. Do not turn one indicator into a complete verdict about a centre.

CHAPTER 1 OF 3
Read the indicator correctly
Use ECDA’s explanation of licence tenure as the starting point. Confirm that the information you are looking at concerns the particular centre and is current.
A useful question is: “Could you explain the current licence period and any information we should understand about it?” Avoid assuming the reason for a particular tenure without clarification.
CHAPTER 2 OF 3
Keep licensing and accreditation questions separate
ECDA’s curriculum-choice FAQ identifies licence tenure and SPARK certification as quality indicators. They are different pieces of information.
If you want to check accreditation, use the separate guide to checking SPARK certification. Do not infer one status solely from the other.
CHAPTER 3 OF 3
Ask about the experience your child will have
Discuss the actual class, educator roles, daily arrangements and how the centre responds to parent questions. Ask for examples that help you understand the programme.
Record what is confirmed and what still needs an answer. This guide does not rate named Punggol centres or establish their current licensing status.
