SIT’s Minor in Environmental Sustainability, or MES, is a 30-credit pathway: 18 credits of MES modules and 12 credits of discipline-specific modules. It supplements an eligible undergraduate degree rather than replacing it.
The published requirements include a minimum CGPA of 2.00 for the minor’s modules, alongside degree graduation requirements. SIT also requires sustainability-related participation: at least three activities a year, with at least ten accumulated hours upon graduation.
Eligibility depends on degree and cohort. Match your details to the official SIT minors table.

Understand the three MES modules
The unique MES modules are Environmental Sustainability Measurement, Environmental Sustainability Management and Environmental Sustainability Project, each worth six credits.
As a way to think about the sequence, ask three practical questions: what is being measured, how could it be managed, and how would a proposed improvement be tested? This is an explanatory reading aid, not a substitute for the actual module outlines.
Read the programme and cohort together
Examples include Electrical Power Engineering and Engineering Systems from AY2023, and Mechanical Engineering from AY2024. Later rows add other programmes.
Use the exact row for your degree and specialisation. SIT says the public table reflects the latest curriculum and directs earlier cohorts to the Student Intranet. If your record differs from a public example, confirm the applicable requirements rather than trying to combine versions.
Plan the minor around the main degree
Before choosing, map the required modules against your own study plan and ask how they fit with existing degree requirements. Distinguish credits already accounted for from any extra work you would need to schedule.
Also plan for the participation requirement instead of leaving it to the final stage. Keep whatever attendance evidence SIT asks for. This guide does not confirm your individual timetable, module allocation or approval to enrol.
Compare pathways without chasing labels
Choose the minor because the learning complements what you want to do. For a prospective student, a useful conversation is how sustainability knowledge might connect to the primary discipline, not whether adding a label automatically guarantees employment.
SIT’s Applied Sustainability Talent Programme is a different pathway with a second major. Read its separate requirements before comparing. For campus orientation, use our SIT Punggol guide.
