If you rent an HDB flat or bedroom in Punggol, use HDB’s authorised-tenant enquiry service to check whether the owner has registered you. A signed tenancy agreement and an HDB tenant record are different things; do not rely only on a message saying registration is settled.
HDB’s service instructions require the tenant’s NRIC or FIN, date of birth and flat address, together with the enquirer’s identification details. Enter these only through the official HDB service, not in a public chat or an unofficial form offering to check for you.
If you are not shown as an authorised tenant, ask the owner to check the approval and registration. HDB lists possible reasons including no rental approval, expired approval or an omitted tenant; it also says tenant information is updated within two days of rental approval.

Use the exact flat and personal particulars
Have the block, street and unit number ready before making the enquiry. A room advertisement’s building name alone is not a complete residential address.
Check your entries carefully. Treat the result as a specific enquiry about that person at that address, not a general certificate that every aspect of the tenancy has been verified.
Follow up on the result calmly
If approval has just been obtained, note its date and HDB’s stated update period. Ask for clarification instead of repeatedly making the same enquiry with different spellings or guessed addresses.
Keep a short written record of what you asked the owner and the response. If the discrepancy remains unresolved, contact HDB through its official help route with the relevant facts.
Check company-arranged housing too
HDB confirms that the enquiry can also be used when a company rents the flat or bedroom for an employee. The owner must still supply the particulars of the people staying there.
For an employer-arranged move to Punggol, identify who will coordinate registration and who will receive the approval information. Do not assume a company lease makes individual tenant details unnecessary.
Separate registration from contract disputes
A registration check does not decide whether a deposit must be returned or whether a private agreement can be terminated. Those questions require the actual contract and, where necessary, appropriate advice.
