Preschools in Punggol should protect children’s privacy during toileting, changing and showering. ECDA specifically says centres should have safeguards for these personal-care routines.
ECDA says children should be separated by gender during dressing, undressing or showering. It also states that CCTV cameras must not be installed in toilets or changing rooms.
Ask the preschool how privacy and necessary care are managed together for your child’s age and needs. The useful question is not simply whether there is a camera, but how staff provide appropriate help while protecting dignity.
CHAPTER 1 OF 3
Understand the published guidance
Read ECDA’s child-privacy FAQ and its CCTV restrictions FAQ. These sources distinguish privacy safeguards from camera coverage.
Do not assume a prohibited camera location means there are no other safeguarding arrangements. Ask the principal to explain the centre’s actual procedures.
CHAPTER 2 OF 3
Ask about your child’s routine
Useful questions include who provides assistance, how children ask for help and where spare clothes are kept. If your child needs particular support, discuss it before the first day.
Ask how the centre handles an unexpected change of clothes or a child who is uncomfortable with a routine. These are suggested discussion questions, not additional national rules.
CHAPTER 3 OF 3
Keep follow-up specific
If you have a concern, describe what you observed or were told and ask the principal to address the particular arrangement. Keep the child’s private details out of public parent-group discussions.
For a separate practical question, see ECDA’s preschool washroom-facilities guidance. Privacy and suitable facilities are related, but they are not the same enquiry.
