NLB eBooks for Punggol Readers | Libby, Audiobooks and Offline Reading

Punggol readers can borrow NLB eBooks and audiobooks through NLB Mobile and Libby without visiting the library for each digital loan. NLB’s app guide lists a combined quota of up to 16 eBooks and audiobooks.

Use your myLibrary account to borrow a title. NLB Mobile supports online reading or listening; Libby lets you download eligible borrowed titles for offline use. The official NLB Mobile guide explains the route.

Standard digital loans run for 21 days and return automatically. “Skip the Line” copies have a shorter seven-day period and cannot be renewed. Read the loan details before borrowing, especially when choosing a title for a trip or school reading plan.

Borrow the right format

Search for the title, choose the eBook or audiobook format and check availability. The NLB guide explains that “Borrow” and “Reserve” represent different stages: a waitlisted title is not yet a loan you can open.

For practical planning, check the language, edition and format before committing. An audiobook and a printed edition may serve different purposes, particularly if a student needs to refer to specific passages.

Download before going offline

NLB’s Libby FAQ distinguishes app downloads from browser reading. Libby’s browser version does not support offline downloads.

Before travelling, open the title on the device you intend to use and check that it is ready for offline access. This simple test is more reliable than assuming that seeing a cover image means the whole title has downloaded.

Understand holds and notifications

The FAQ says digital holds are free and are not borrowed automatically when available. Respond to the notification within 10 days, choosing to borrow, defer delivery or cancel.

Keep an eye on the account’s holds list if you are waiting for a particular book. A reservation is useful for future reading, but should not be the only plan for a title you need immediately.

Choose the loan that fits your reading time

NLB’s current FAQ contains inconsistent counts for simultaneous Skip the Line loans, so this guide does not promise a specific sub-limit. Check what the app permits and ask NLB if the limit is unclear.

Return finished digital titles early when convenient. For physical visits and children’s spaces, use our Punggol Library guide; digital access and admission to a particular library activity are separate arrangements.
