Punggol Edge was introduced in the May 2012 BTO exercise, with applications running from 30 May to 5 June. Its location was bounded by Edgedale Plains and the Tampines Expressway.
The launch described an integrated project containing 688 BTO flats and 446 rental flats. The BTO homes were three-room, four-room and five-room Standard flats; the rental component was additional to that 688-home sales offer.
For readers researching Punggol Edge history, that distinction explains why different totals may appear in old descriptions. Adding both components gives 1,134 homes, but calling all 1,134 BTO flats would misstate the launch.

The contemporary launch account explicitly gives the BTO and rental figures separately. It also distinguishes Standard Punggol Edge from Premium Waterway SunDew, although both offered the same three broad BTO flat sizes.
Those historical labels describe the offer at that time. They should not be silently substituted with newer housing classifications or treated as a judgment about the people living in either development.
An integrated housing history has more than one household pathway within it. A buyer’s application record and a rental household’s allocation record need not follow the same process, even when both relate to the same named precinct.
The project specification records five blocks for the 688-home BTO component. Its overview also describes a planned mini-mart and shops. These details help reconstruct the offer without assuming that every planned business opened immediately.
Here the road and expressway boundaries are useful historical clues. They identify the site more precisely than the word Punggol alone and keep this estate separate from Edgefield schools or other similarly named places.
If you are comparing family documents, keep the dates in separate columns: sales application, flat selection, key collection and move-in. The May 2012 launch establishes the first of these, not all four.
For the other Punggol project offered that month, continue to the Waterway SunDew launch history. The two articles describe a shared sales moment from different project perspectives.
