What does a SPARK curriculum check look at? ECDA identifies alignment with national learning and development frameworks, appropriate goals, progression in learning, integration across areas and positive, meaningful experiences.
For Punggol parents, these ideas help turn a curriculum conversation into practical questions. Ask how the centre connects its goals with the experiences children actually have.
The curriculum check is part of SPARK eligibility, not a test for your child. Keep questions about the centre’s accreditation process separate from questions about your child’s learning progress.

CHAPTER 1 OF 4
Understand framework alignment
The ECDA curriculum-check answer names EYDF and NEL as the relevant national frameworks.
Our EYDF and NEL guide explains the names before you discuss how the centre uses them.
CHAPTER 2 OF 4
Ask about goals and progression
Ask what an activity is intended to support and how later experiences build on it. These questions make goals and progression easier to understand.
For example: “What are children exploring now, and what would the next experience involve?” This is a parent discussion prompt, not the official assessment checklist.
CHAPTER 3 OF 4
Ask how learning areas connect
ECDA includes integration across learning and developmental areas. Ask the centre for an example of how an experience connects more than one area.
Listen to what children do and how educators guide them. A long list of isolated subject names does not by itself explain those connections.
CHAPTER 4 OF 4
Keep the child’s experience central
Ask what makes the planned experience positive and meaningful for the children taking part. Explain any question about your own child’s participation separately.
If you want to know whether the centre is certified, use the official checking route rather than inferring a status from its curriculum explanation.
Information checked on 14 October 2026. Follow the current official instructions and the guidance given for your child’s situation.
