SIT CLASIC | Community Projects, Social Innovation and Partnership Contact

SIT’s Community Leadership And Social Innovation Centre (CLASIC) develops community-related projects with partner organisations, drawing on the knowledge and skills of faculty, students and staff.

For community-project or partnership enquiries, the official contact is SIT.CLASIC@singaporetech.edu.sg. Start with the community need, intended beneficiaries and your organisation’s role.

A project described on the official CLASIC page is not automatically an activity open for public registration. Families, residents and prospective partners should ask about the particular project’s audience, participation arrangements and dates before planning a visit to SIT Punggol or another venue.

What social innovation means here

CLASIC connects academic expertise with community needs. Its published work includes projects involving accessibility, recycling and learning activities for children.

A useful practical starting point is to understand the people involved before choosing a solution. For example, making a communal space easier to use may require listening to different users at different times of day. That is an illustrative way to frame a challenge, not an invitation to join a current project.

Examples should be read with their dates

The website records a seniors’ communal-space redesign and the development of household recycling-receptacle concepts for NEA. It also describes cybersafety and Scratch workshops planned for the June and December 2025 holidays.

The 2025 workshop dates have passed. Those examples show the kinds of collaboration the centre has undertaken; they do not establish a current 2026 workshop timetable, available places or a continuing public enrolment scheme.

How a community partner can enquire

Identify the community group, the need you have observed and the outcome you hope to improve. Explain whether your organisation can provide local knowledge, a venue, staff support or another contribution. These are suggested discussion points.

Ask how participants would be involved, what permissions are needed and how responsibilities would be shared. Agree on communication and follow-up arrangements before telling beneficiaries that a project has been confirmed.

Student participation and public access

SIT students should check current module or project guidance through the university. The CLASIC page contains cohort-specific curriculum descriptions; do not apply an older cohort statement automatically to every current student.

For an arranged meeting, ask for the confirmed venue and room. Our SIT Punggol Campus guide provides orientation, but a campus visit and participation in a community project are separate arrangements.
