Setting up GIRO for your Punggol utilities bill? SP’s residential guide lists eGIRO through the SP app or Utilities Portal as a payment option. Use the official account route and confirm the utilities account you intend to pay before authorising an arrangement.
A GIRO application is not proof that an outstanding Punggol utilities bill has been paid. Check the application outcome, effective arrangement and bill’s payment instructions. Until coverage is confirmed, ask SP how to settle a bill approaching its due date.
Keep utilities GIRO separate from HDB season-parking GIRO, property-tax GIRO or another household payment. Each arrangement concerns its own biller and account. Also check who issues your electricity bill if you use a retailer, rather than assuming an SP arrangement covers a separately billed retailer account.

Confirm the biller and account
Read the utilities bill and select the intended SP account in the official app or portal. Review the bank-account details before approving the setup.
If another household member is helping, use the account holder’s authorised process. Do not share banking passwords or approve an unexpected authentication request.
Check when the arrangement starts
Retain the application acknowledgement and follow SP’s instructions for the outcome and effective payment arrangement. Ask about the current unpaid bill if the first deduction is unclear.
Avoid making assumptions from a bank authorisation alone. Equally, do not make duplicate payments without checking whether a deduction is already scheduled or completed.
Review the first payment
Check both the bank transaction and the utilities-account payment record after the scheduled deduction. Keep enough funds and follow any payment-limit requirements given by your bank or SP.
If the deduction fails or the balance remains unexplained, contact SP through its official channels with the bill period and transaction reference.
Recheck after an account change
A move or account closure needs a review of the utilities and payment records. SP says the GIRO arrangement is automatically terminated after final charges are deducted when the account closes.
Check the final bill and any new premises account separately. Do not assume a new account inherits the payment setup or that cancelling a payment arrangement closes the utilities account itself.
