History of Coralinus in Punggol: Two Housing Phases and the 2009–2010 Project Records

Three learners review open books together at a classroom table, with stacks of textbooks, stationery and a whiteboard in the bright room.

Coralinus was developed in two phases, recorded separately as Coralinus I and Coralinus II. Straits Construction’s archive places the first under 2009 and the second under 2010.

The contractor describes Coralinus I as six residential blocks with 369 homes at Punggol Road, and Coralinus II as six blocks with 365 homes at Punggol Place. Together, the recorded phases account for 734 homes.

For readers searching Coralinus history, the phase distinction is essential. One estate name can cover more than one sales exercise and construction sequence, rather than a single universal opening date.

CHAPTER 1 OF 2

1. The two phases in the construction archive

Back to contents

The Straits Construction past-projects register identifies both phases, their scale and their locations.

Its year headings provide the contractor’s project chronology. They should not be treated as proof that every household in a phase moved in during that year.

The totals also explain why a source describing only 369 or 365 homes need not contradict a combined count: it may be referring to one phase.

CHAPTER 2 OF 2

2. Earlier sales records and later building records

Back to contents

A local historical BTO compilation lists releases in June 2005 for Coralinus I and February 2006 for Coralinus II.

That compilation is a secondary reference. Its completion-date column should not override the contractor’s later project archive or be read automatically as an actual handover record.

The useful historical sequence is that the sales releases preceded the recorded construction-project years. Buyers encountered the estate as an offering before residents experienced it as a lived place.

Keeping I and II attached to each record makes the history easier to follow and avoids combining different phases’ dates into a misleading single timeline.
