Checking flood alerts before travelling from Punggol? PUB directs the public to its official Flood Alerts Telegram channel and myENV. Use the channel linked through PUB’s website to see updates about potential flash floods, rather than relying on an undated forwarded message.
Read the alert time and named location, then compare them with your whole journey. A Punggol home address does not make an alert elsewhere irrelevant if your bus, car or walking route passes through that area. Conversely, a Singapore-wide update does not mean every Punggol street is flooded.
Use alerts to choose an alternative route and allow extra time. PUB advises people to avoid flooded areas; pedestrians who see flooding ahead should turn back and move to higher ground. An absence of a message is not a guarantee that the route in front of you is safe.

Find the genuine alert channel
Start with PUB’s Get Flood-Wise page or the official channel linked below. Check that you are viewing PUB’s published channel, not a discussion group with a similar name.
If you use myENV, review the app’s available flood information and your notification settings. Make a habit of checking directly before a journey instead of relying entirely on a notification arriving.
Read the time and location
Check when the update was issued and whether a later update changes the situation. Compare the named road or area with your intended route.
When sharing a message with family, retain its timestamp and official source link. A cropped screenshot can remove the details needed to judge relevance.
Choose a practical alternative
Build extra time into a school run, appointment or work journey if your route is affected. Check the relevant transport operator separately for any service changes.
Do not enter floodwater just because another pedestrian or vehicle did so. Follow official directions and the conditions you can observe safely.
Continue checking during changing weather
If heavy rain continues, revisit official updates when it is safe to do so. Drivers should stop safely before checking a phone.
Tell anyone waiting for you about a change of plan. Protecting the journey matters more than keeping an estimated arrival time based on an earlier weather situation.
