For a Punggol MRT, LRT or bus journey, tap in and out using the same payment card and the same payment mode. If you enter with a physical bank card, do not leave with the phone wallet containing that card. SimplyGo can treat those taps as separate transactions.
A phone and a smartwatch are also different devices. Even when both contain the same bank card, keep the same mobile wallet, device and selected card throughout the journey. Choose your payment method before joining the queue at Punggol or Punggol Coast station.
If your card or device is rejected at a train exit, ask the Passenger Service Centre for assistance. Explain what you used at entry before switching payment methods. For an apparent overcharge afterwards, check the relevant travel records and use SimplyGo’s official claim route.

Same bank account does not mean the same tap
SimplyGo’s bank-card FAQ explicitly warns against mixing a physical card with its mobile-wallet version. It also requires the same mobile payment mode and device. A matching bank-card name in two wallets does not make changing devices mid-trip a safe workaround.
For example, a visitor might enter using a phone, then reach for a watch because their hands are full after shopping. The practical fix is to decide in advance which device will remain available for the journey home.

Presenting several contactless cards together can cause a card clash, an error or incorrect charges. Remove the intended card from your wallet or bag. Avoid presenting a travel card behind a phone with an active mobile wallet.
At a busy station, step aside briefly to find the correct card before approaching the reader. This is particularly useful when a parent is carrying several family members’ cards: keep them recognisable without displaying personal information unnecessarily.

SimplyGo advises ensuring adequate mobile-device battery and enabling mobile payment before approaching a reader. Compatibility and payment-provider requirements can vary, so check the official FAQ for your own setup rather than relying on another commuter’s phone.
For a longer outing along the waterway, include the return trip in your battery planning. A backup card is useful for a future journey, but it is not interchangeable with the device used to start an unfinished one.

Tell station staff where you entered, approximately when, and whether you used a card, phone or watch. If you accidentally changed devices, say so. A clear account helps distinguish a rejected tap from a journey recorded under two payment methods.
Do not keep trying different cards without noting what happened. Once safely outside the flow of passengers, make a short record of the journey so you can identify the correct transaction later. A claim is a request for review, not a guarantee of refund.
