Children under seven years old and up to 0.9m tall can travel free on basic bus and train services with a fare-paying adult. For a taller preschool child travelling around Punggol by MRT, LRT or bus, bring a valid Child Concession Card rather than assuming age alone is enough.
SimplyGo allows Child Concession Card applications for children who are at least 0.9m tall, below seven and not attending primary school. Applications are made at SimplyGo Ticket Offices. Check the official office locator before leaving home; a station Passenger Service Centre is not automatically a ticket office offering every card service.
Free child travel does not cover Express, Premium or City Direct bus services. Before a Punggol family outing, check your child’s card, the service category and the return journey. These are Singapore-wide concession conditions, not a separate Punggol scheme.

Check height, age and school status
The free-travel guidance and card-application criteria describe the 0.9m boundary differently: the fare page includes children up to 0.9m, while the card page accepts applications from 0.9m. If your child is close to that height, ask a Ticket Office which arrangement to use before a busy journey.
A useful family habit is to review travel arrangements when a child grows, starts school or receives a new school travel card. A preschool routine should not simply continue unchanged after a school transition.

The published application requirements include the child’s original Singapore-issued birth certificate for citizens and permanent residents, or original passport for non-citizens. A representative applying for the child also brings their original NRIC or passport. New eligible applications are free, and the issued card needs no activation.
Check office opening hours and pack documents separately from snacks and outing supplies. Completing the card errand before the recreational part of the day avoids turning a tired child’s journey home into an administrative task.

Do not use a bus’s destination as the test for free travel. A service reaching Punggol can still belong to an excluded category. SimplyGo’s card page says excluded services require a topped-up card and adult cash fare; clarify the applicable payment with the bus captain before proceeding.
For a simple first trip, write down the service you intend to board and the stop where you will leave it. Keep the child’s card accessible rather than buried inside a bag at boarding time.

The Child Concession Card’s stated validity runs until 30 April in the year the child turns seven. SimplyGo provides a separate assistance route for eligible children not attending primary school that year; consult the official card page well before expiry.
For families using the LRT to connect with the MRT, allow time to organise each person’s travel card before approaching the gates. An adult carrying bags can prepare the cards while another adult supervises the child, where that option is available.
