For a passport photo taken in Punggol, check ICA’s current photo guidelines before uploading. The recommended digital dimensions are 400 × 514 pixels, and the maximum file size is 8 MB.
ICA’s accepted online photo formats are JPG, JPEG, HEIC, HEIF and PNG. A file meeting the size limit still needs to meet the appearance requirements shown in the official Dos and Don’ts; technical compatibility alone does not guarantee acceptance.
If taking your Singapore passport photo at home in Punggol, ICA recommends asking someone to help rather than taking a selfie. Do not use beauty filters or alter facial features. The official guidance says photographs must not be altered or enhanced.

Read the visual examples first
Open the official Dos and Don’ts before setting up the photograph. Compare the framing and appearance with those examples rather than assuming an ordinary portrait will work.
Tell a photographer or helper that the image is for an ICA application. If using a shop, ask for a digital file suitable for submission, not only a printed photograph.

Prepare a readable upload file
Check the file’s dimensions, format and size on your device. ICA allows resizing the digital photograph, but that should not become a reason to beautify or change the person’s appearance.
Save the selected file with a clear name so you do not accidentally upload an older portrait. Keep the original separately if you need to review how the image was prepared.

Distinguish file problems from photo problems
A failed upload and a photograph that does not satisfy the appearance rules are different issues. Start by checking whether the file meets the published technical specifications.
Then compare the photograph with the visual guidance. Repeatedly compressing the same image will not solve a framing or appearance problem, and may make the file less clear.

If ICA requests a replacement
Read the reason given and address that issue before resubmitting. Avoid changing several unrelated details without checking whether the new image meets the full guidance.
This article does not certify any Punggol photo shop or promise acceptance of a particular photograph. ICA assesses the submitted image; follow its instructions if another image is required.
