After buying a Punggol HDB flat, check your property tax record and bill through IRAS. HDB notifies IRAS of the ownership transfer, so you do not need to send a separate ownership notification yourself.
For a newly constructed HDB flat, property tax starts from the date you take possession. For a resale purchase, check the seller-and-buyer tax apportionment with your HDB officer or lawyer. IRAS does not divide that liability between the two parties.
If you live in the flat as its owner, check that the lower owner-occupier rates appear in your record. Keep the bill’s payment deadline, tax period and property address together so this expense can be added to your household plan.

Read the bill against your purchase records
Compare the property address and period shown with your completion or possession documents. If the date of tax liability is incorrect, IRAS advises contacting your HDB officer or lawyer to correct the information submitted.
A useful enquiry identifies the exact date in question. Keep the relevant document ready rather than asking about the bill without explaining which entry seems wrong.

Check the resale settlement
Ask your HDB officer or lawyer how any outstanding tax and the current year’s amount were handled at completion. Keep the settlement calculation with the purchase records.
For example, a reimbursement to the seller and a later payment to IRAS are different transactions. Label both clearly in your household records so you can explain either one when needed.

IRAS’s HDB buyer guidance says owner-occupier rates are applied automatically. Its FAQ advises a new resident owner to check the concession and apply through myTax Portal if it has not been granted.
If you have co-owners, agree who will monitor notices and payments. A simple shared reminder reduces the chance that each person assumes someone else has dealt with the bill.

Open the official IRAS account to check the amount payable and the payment arrangement shown. Keep any completed-payment acknowledgement alongside the bill.
Treat the tax bill as its own item in your moving checklist. Renovation invoices, utilities and estate charges can arrive around the same time, so give each a separate entry and due date.
