If a Punggol shop or service provider charges GST and you want to check its registration, use IRAS’s GST Registered Business Search. Members of the public can use this service without logging in to myTax Portal.
For a Punggol GST receipt check, search using the business name, Unique Entity Number or GST registration number. IRAS recommends the UEN or GST registration number for the best search results.
IRAS states that only GST-registered businesses may charge and collect GST. Match the business identified on your receipt with the search result before drawing a conclusion; the trading name on a sign may not be the name used in your search.

Start with the receipt or invoice
Look for the business details printed on the transaction record. If the registered name or number is unclear, ask the seller to identify the entity that supplied the goods or service.
Keep the purchase date, document and seller’s clarification together. Searching a familiar brand name without identifying the transaction’s business can leave you checking the wrong entity.

Enter an accurate identifier
Copy the UEN or GST registration number carefully into the official public search. The service also accepts a business-name search, with at least the first five characters of the name.
If a search returns nothing, check your typing and ask about the identifier before assuming misconduct. Save the result with the information you entered so another person can reproduce your check.

Separate GST from other charges
Read each line of the bill rather than treating every additional charge as GST. If the explanation is unclear, ask the business to describe the amount and how it was calculated.
A useful question is specific: which line represents GST, which business charged it and what registration number applies? Keep the reply instead of relying on a verbal explanation you may later struggle to recall.

Ask IRAS about an unresolved mismatch
Use the official IRAS GST enquiry page if you need guidance on the registration question. Provide the receipt details and your search information.
This guide helps you verify a business’s GST registration. It does not assess whether a particular transaction is taxable, calculate a refund or establish that a named Punggol seller has acted improperly.
