For preschool subsidies in Punggol, ECDA states that your child must attend preschool for at least one day in the month to meet that month’s minimum attendance requirement.
This is an attendance condition, not a guarantee of a particular subsidy amount. Your child’s application, programme and applicable scheme rules still need to be considered.
If your child may miss an entire month, speak to the preschool before assuming that paying fees or keeping the place reserved preserves the subsidy. Ask how the absence will affect that month’s account.
CHAPTER 1 OF 4
Check the calendar month
Look at the actual attendance dates, not simply how many days your child attended across a school term. An absence spanning two months can raise different questions for each month.
Ask the centre to confirm its attendance record if you are unsure. Keep the response with the invoice for the relevant period.
CHAPTER 2 OF 4
Keep attendance and fees separate
The ECDA minimum-attendance guidance sets the monthly condition. A payment receipt alone does not establish attendance.
Ask two separate questions: “What attendance is recorded?” and “What fee and subsidy apply?” This helps staff explain the situation without mixing different requirements.
CHAPTER 3 OF 4
Plan a full-month absence carefully
Before a long trip or other planned absence, request the centre’s written explanation of the fee arrangement and subsidy implications.
Do not assume an exception exists for every reason for absence. Avoid treating another family’s outcome as approval for your own child.
CHAPTER 4 OF 4
Put health before fee planning
Do not send an unwell child to preschool solely to reach an attendance threshold. Follow the child’s medical advice and the centre’s health requirements.
For an entire month missed because of a medical issue, ECDA provides an appeal route for a one-time waiver through the preschool, subject to approval. Ask the centre about the documentation needed rather than assuming an automatic exemption.
