If Parents Gateway notifications are not working, first check that you are logged in and that push notifications are enabled both inside PG and in your phone’s settings. Punggol parents should open the app to check school messages while troubleshooting.
The official PG FAQ also advises checking battery-saving settings, which may interfere with alerts, and enabling email notifications as a backup. Missing a notification does not by itself show that the school failed to send the message.
This guide separates a notification problem from a child-access problem and gives you a short sequence to follow. If a school form has a deadline, read and respond through the app or contact school rather than wait for the next phone alert.
CHAPTER 1 OF 5
Check login and the messages themselves
PG’s logged-out FAQ says parents must remain logged in to receive push notifications about school announcements, forms and meetings.
Open PG and look for the expected notice. If the child is missing entirely, our child-access guide covers that separate problem.
CHAPTER 2 OF 5
Enable both layers of notification settings
The official notification troubleshooting FAQ directs you to Profile, Notifications and Push Notifications in PG. Check that the toggle is on.
Then locate Parents Gateway under your phone’s notification settings and allow notifications. The phone’s menu wording may vary, so follow the relevant device settings rather than search for an identical screenshot.
CHAPTER 3 OF 5
Review battery restrictions
PG’s FAQ identifies battery optimisation, power-saving and sleep settings as possible causes of blocked alerts. Check whether the phone restricts PG in the background.
Change the relevant setting using your device’s instructions, then keep the app’s own notification permission enabled. Avoid changing several unrelated settings at once, because it becomes harder to tell what resolved the issue.
CHAPTER 4 OF 5
Add an email backup
In PG, the official FAQ gives the route Profile, Notifications, Email Notifications, then switch the toggle on. Check the available email details and instructions when setting this up.
An alert is a reminder to read a notice. It is not a substitute for completing a consent form or checking an appointment, so put important dates into the family calendar after reading the message.
CHAPTER 5 OF 5
Report a persistent problem clearly
Use the PG support route linked by the official FAQ if the problem continues. Explain which checks you completed and whether notices appear inside the app.
Include the device type and a useful description of the missing alert. For an urgent school deadline, contact school separately; technical support and a teacher’s decision about a form deadline are different tasks.
Information checked on 11 October 2026. Follow the current official and school instructions for your child’s individual arrangements.
