Our Punggol Story Mural at PDD | Location, Artists and a Family Art Walk

Exterior view of Punggol Digital District in Singapore.

Our Punggol Story is the 132-metre hand-painted mural at Punggol Digital District’s Community Promenade. JTC’s community page highlights it as a public art feature and links to its background. Add it to a PDD visit if you want to explore local art alongside the district’s shops and campus surroundings.

The mural was unveiled on 16 November 2025 and recognised by the Singapore Book of Records as the nation’s longest hand-painted mural. It depicts Punggol’s change from a riverside kampung to an innovation district.

Shaping Hearts artists Simeon Tan and Ezra Chan Yi co-created the work, which Tell Your Children Studios executed with contributions from community stakeholders. Use the district map and current signs to locate the Community Promenade; confirm the precise approach before arranging a group meeting.

Plan the mural as a specific stop

Save the mural’s name and Community Promenade location before leaving home. Punggol Digital District includes several public spaces, so a general “meet at PDD” instruction gives a group too little information.

Choose a meeting point that everyone can identify on the current district map. If travelling with someone who needs a step-free route, check the permitted approach and lift arrangements before the visit.

Plan the walk according to the weather and the group’s energy. A short look at a few sections can be enjoyable without committing to a long outing.

Look for the change in Punggol’s landscape

The artwork’s broad story links village life with the present-day district. Look for a detail that makes you curious, then ask how it relates to the place you are standing in.

For children, start with observation: “What do you see?” Follow with “What makes you think that?” This lets them use colour, shapes and recognisable objects as evidence for their interpretation.

Treat the mural as an artist’s representation of change. If a detail raises a historical question, follow it up with a documented source rather than treating every image as a literal record.

Understand the collaboration behind the work

JTC’s launch account describes a collaboration involving JTC, North East CDC and SIT. Contributors included artists with disabilities, students, residents and other district stakeholders.

Give the named artists attention when talking about the work. Inclusion in the arts means recognising the ideas, decisions and effort that produce the finished piece.

Ask a child what might be difficult about planning an image across such a long surface. The question can open a conversation about composition, teamwork and how individual contributions become one artwork.

Let different people in your group choose different favourite sections. Their choices can reveal how the same piece invites several ways of seeing Punggol.

Take photographs without interrupting the space

The photograph accompanying this guide shows the district exterior, rather than the mural itself. When you visit, look for a viewpoint that records the artwork clearly while leaving the pedestrian route open.

For a personal photo, notice how much of the work fits in the frame. A close view records a detail; a wider view helps show how the mural sits in its surroundings.

Follow site photography notices and avoid including other visitors without their agreement. For commercial filming, a staged shoot or an organised activity, ask the district about the required arrangements.

Keep the artwork’s title and artist credits with your notes if you plan to discuss or share what you saw.

Combine art with another Punggol stop

A family outing can pair the mural with a meal or a short walk through an accessible public part of the district. Choose one main purpose so the visit remains manageable.

The 2025 launch festival mentioned in the background article has ended. Its historic dates and activities should not be treated as the programme for a current visit.

Use JTC’s community guide and its linked mural launch account for the artwork’s location and history. Our PDD visitor guide explains the wider district.
