My Child Missed a School Vaccination: What Should Punggol Parents Do?

Three learners review open books together at a classroom table, with stacks of textbooks, stationery and a whiteboard in the bright room.

If your child missed a school vaccination, check the school notice and the child’s immunisation record, then contact the relevant healthcare team about the follow-up. Do not assume another school visit will automatically complete the missed dose.

A HealthHub reminder about missed childhood vaccinations may refer to the child’s overall immunisation schedule rather than one school appointment. HealthHub’s official advice is to arrange an appointment with the doctor and review the records in Children’s Health.

Punggol parents should distinguish a missed visit, an outstanding consent request and a vaccination already given elsewhere. This guide helps you prepare the right information for HPB or the clinic; the healthcare professional should decide what vaccination is due and when.

CHAPTER 1 OF 5

Identify what was actually missed

Read the original school message and any follow-up appointment notice. Note the service, date and contact route rather than rely on a general reminder remembered from a parent group.

Check whether the issue was absence from school, incomplete consent or a separate clinic appointment. These are different administrative problems and may need different follow-up.

CHAPTER 2 OF 5

Review the child’s records

Use the child’s records in HealthHub and compare them with the Health Booklet or vaccination certificate you hold. The missed-vaccination FAQ directs parents to the doctor and Children’s Health records.

If a vaccination was received overseas or at another clinic, bring the available documentation to the healthcare professional. Ask whether the record needs updating before concluding that another dose is required.

CHAPTER 3 OF 5

Contact the correct team

The official school immunisation page lists HPB’s current programme information and enquiry routes. Use the contact in your child’s notice for a specific outstanding appointment.

Explain the child’s school and level, the missed service and any vaccination already received. Give identifying details only through the official channel when requested.

CHAPTER 4 OF 5

Clarify appointments and alternative arrangements

Ask which follow-up service the child needs and how to book it. A school consent submission and a confirmed clinic booking should not be treated as the same thing.

If you choose immunisation at your own GP instead of an existing Student Health Centre appointment, follow HealthHub’s cancellation and record-update instructions. The FAQ also asks parents to keep the immunisation certificate in the Health Booklet.

CHAPTER 5 OF 5

Close the loop after the visit

Save the clinic’s instructions and update the family calendar if a further appointment is given. Let the healthcare team advise on timing rather than calculate a catch-up schedule yourself.

Check that the relevant records and school follow-up have been addressed. If the remaining problem is moving an SHC appointment, our Student Health Centre appointment guide covers that separate step.
