How to Volunteer at Punggol Library: NLB Sign-Up and Library Guide Opportunities

To volunteer at Punggol Library, start with the National Library Board’s Volunteers’ Portal and browse current opportunities. NLB provides routes for individual volunteers and for schools or organisations interested in group volunteering.

The official Punggol Stories exhibition page invites people interested in guiding its trail to sign up through NLB and choose Punggol Library as the venue. Check the current opportunity details before expecting a particular role or shift to be available.

Registering an interest and being confirmed for a placement are different steps. Read the role’s requirements, dates and instructions, then wait for the relevant confirmation. Punggol Library is inside One Punggol; follow the assignment details for your reporting point and time.

Where to begin your application

Use the official NLB Volunteers’ Portal to explore opportunities. Choose the individual or group route that fits your situation.

The volunteer registration page provides the sign-up process. Enter information through the official system and follow its current instructions.

Look for Punggol Library in the venue selection or opportunity details. A role elsewhere in the NLB network may be worthwhile, but it does not establish a placement at One Punggol.

Interest in guiding the Punggol Stories trail

The official exhibition page identifies library guiding as a way to volunteer. Read its sign-up direction and check the portal for the relevant arrangements.

If the role interests you, visit the exhibition as a reader first. Notice the questions a newcomer might ask and which displays need more time to understand.

Ask about preparation, briefings and how guides should use the exhibition material. Keep your own observations separate from the information provided by NLB for a confirmed role.

Choosing an opportunity that fits your time

Read the stated commitment carefully. Check the dates, shift duration, reporting location and any age, training or other participation requirement in the actual listing.

Think about what you can attend consistently. A nearby venue helps with travel, but preparation and the full shift still need to fit your schedule.

If you are unsure about suitability, ask the contact named in the opportunity. Describe the question clearly instead of assuming requirements from another library role.

School, student and group enquiries

Use the portal’s group route if applying as a school or organisation. Nominate one organiser who can discuss dates, numbers and the intended activity.

Students who need recognised participation records should ask both the organiser and their school how those records are handled. Do not assume portal registration alone creates an accepted school record.

Keep the group informed about confirmed requirements and avoid sending people to the library without an agreed arrangement.

Preparing for a confirmed volunteer session

Read the confirmation and bring whatever identification or materials it requests. Allow time to locate the reporting point and attend any briefing.

Ask the coordinator how to handle questions outside your role. A volunteer can be helpful by directing a visitor to the right staff member when an answer needs confirmation.

For venue context, see our Punggol Library guide. Your assignment instructions remain the source for the reporting time and activity.
